Oil & Fuel Fuel cans

Like most regulations the ones for which containers are legal to be filled with flammable/combustible liquids come from folks who do not have any common sense and use things like glass gallon jugs to carry gasoline. Now that almost all fuel stations do not have pump attendants I'm sure we will eventually see some cases pop up where someone did something stupid and blew themselves or others up and a whole another round of regulations will come to be.

Like the no-spill diesel fuel containers. Even my wife can fuel the little tractor but doesn’t like to. The bad part was holding the button down. 5gallons took 2-3 minutes to drain. Added these vents.

ZOOYL Gas Can Vent Caps Retrofit Kit 6 Packs, Enhances Flow for Faster Refills, Universal Fuel Tank and Gas Can Replacement Vent Valve Made of Durable Stainless Steel with Attached Silicone Rubber Cap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VH2ZL1...abc_T7P0EXR2HVQBDW8NV2R8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Now can drain 5 gallons in 30-40 seconds. Not a single drop spilled.

Also retrofitted some jugs for the bigger tractor.

Had a bulk tank for awhile when farming more. Maintenance, filters, additives, draining, algae all cost time and money too. Use 80-100 gallons per year lately. Went back to jugs. Maybe switch to 55gallon drums? Hoisting jugs is kind of a barometer to keep tractoring.

What ever bulk tank you use, a pressure/vacuum vent is necessary for storing fuel around here. Keeps your fuel dryer. Surprised how many tanks I see with just a rain drip vent.

I found this pump at my John Deere dealership. It has four AA battery’s and a auto shut off nozzle that works great. There are one on button and off button that you just push no hold. I put this can on my Kubota tractor floor board and then attach the hose with a spring loaded clamp Into the tank. This unit pumps real fast with no leaks any were. It comes with extra fuel can fittings to fit a verity of fuel cans. I have a tidy tank i used to use but is to much trouble to load and unload etc. I just take a couple of Gerry cans and fill them so i always have fresh fuel plus no trouble to switch to winter fuel as well.
I Am getting up in age and this works great for me and I would not go to anything else and I have had them all This one works !!!

They’re technically sportsman cans not fuel containers that’s how they avoid that BS. Those are the only 5 gallon jugs I use. Aside from not being saddled with bs they have the best spout of anything I’ve tried even the older cans. They can work with the can 90 degrees or completely upside down which not many other cans can do that and they have a cap to keep trash and water out of the can. They also seal up pretty well to minimize spills even if they turn over. I’ve tried some of the modern production jerry cabs and they’re not half bad but I prefer plastic cans over metal.

What do you have? Girly arms?? :ROFLMAO:

Chuck the attached funnel and get a real one. Drop it into the fuel hole, rest can on edge and open the flood gate works just fine needing a ladder for the fuel filler on the JD.
I have a 50 gal transfer tank with a 120 volt pump all mounted on a plastic skid/pallet. I fork it into the back of my truck when it needs refilling. Leave it on the garage floor and fill the NH that way. Skid takes up a lot of real estate that I'm not sure I'd give up if I had less room.

I’m not a fan of having to keep up with separate funnels that still need to be cleaned. And that only works for horizontal fuel caps. My skid steer, mini x and lawnmower, along with most vehicles have vertical fill holes. Trying to keep a funnel held upright and hold a 5 gallon can by yourself doesn’t work well.

No batteries, low cost, no damage to the hood and still use the old fuel cans.

Just need to know when to pull the hose from the supply tank.

Still using 5 gallon jugs, but in the Spring I am going with a 50 gallon square tank and a 12v pump. I will mount it so I can load it and unload it with forks for a run for fuel. I've been using 60 to 75 gallons a year so 3 trips in two years will do me. I am considering stepping up to the 100 gallon version, it's just $20 more, but fuel isn't all that far away.

I use these kind of containers and have about 8 of them. We keep them in a shed well away from the barn and house.

For fill ups, the big yellow JD tractor is easy. The whole tractor is built to be used. The tank is down low, it has a huge lockable tank filler opening, a place to put the lid, and a platform for resting 5 gallon jugs on while you fill it

I like our Kubota a lot. But like so much on the tractor, the filling of the fuel was designed by someone who never had done that job. So I can either stand on the front tire and hoist one of these up to chest level.... and hold it there while it empties - or just drive down to the fuel shed and use our battery powered transfer pump.
