But I do think this focus on range is natural when EVs are the default choice when buying a new car, when EVs was just a supplement to a ICE range was not so important.

Well, range is one of the most important issue for buyers, both Honda and Mazda have ideas like this and it doesn't appeal to customers, think Toyota will have no better luck.

The Japanese manufacturers don't really like EVs, even Nissan haven't done much except making the leaf, not really done much to keep the lead they had as a pioneer in EVs. Will see how many of these brands will survive the next decade.
Range is the only important factor when it comes to EVs. The low range EVs kill their battery packs through abuse.

The Japanese manufactures are the rolling dead.

In the USA Tesla is my only EV option if I want travel in the lower 48 states. None of the other EV makers offer quality batteries and quality charging Coast to shining Coast.

People forget Tesla mastered EV battery range and EV charging long before they became a trillion $$$ company.

My 2016 Nissan Leaf battery was cold toast in 25K miles/3.5 years.

Saving money going used can make a lot of sense especially for DIY types.

It seems like about every 10 years the solar panel technology has been leapfrogged.

Vancouver’s shortfall comes from south of the border. A lot is by train or truck. The airport has barge unloading station.
There is a pipeline carrying fuel that is currently out of production because of flooding in the Fraser valley, causing Vancouver's current shortage. While I don't know where it comes from, there is a pipeline to the airport carrying jet fuel that runs through Richmond, the suburb where the airport is located.
