There is a pipeline carrying fuel that is currently out of production because of flooding in the Fraser valley, causing Vancouver's current shortage. While I don't know where it comes from, there is a pipeline to the airport carrying jet fuel that runs through Richmond, the suburb where the airport is located.
Trans Mountain Pipeline. The Airport also has a new facility for unloading barges.

Not so sure about that...at least in the US.
Toyota is a very popular brand here, plus some are actually built (assembled) in the US...Alabama, I think.

Until companies like Tesla can produce a much lower priced vehicle (say $35K or less), my opinion is they'll never be a major manufacturer. I do think Elon Musk is smart enough to, at least, investigate the mass market.

Sam the Electric Viking said some time ago that this new Toyota EV is a BYD skate board with a Toyota body.

Agree. I would not count Toyota out. Bleeding edge vs leading edge. Let the others blaze the trail?

has anybody done a deep dive into the Ford Lightning?
Sounds like a great fit for us.

Its an impressive machine that goes far beyond any conventional pickup in a lot of ways for sure. As long as I can keep the wife from finding out how much a Lightning costs I’ll have one, just might be a couple years.

I agree, and he’ll get there. We’re still in the early adopter phase and early adopters always pay for that privilege. Soon though the question will be how can you afford to not buy an EV.

Maybe in the US, you seems to be more conservative when it comes to cars, here in Europe it's the latest and greatest that matters.

I was a great fan of Japanese cars, drove Nissan pickups and has owned both Toyota's and Mazda, today I think only Mazda is interesting, today I have a Renault and a old VW transporter and my wife switched from Toyota to Citroen.

Well, it's hard to kill a industry that prints money on a ridiculous high rate, and the tax on profit from oil and gas production is over 70% so without it the Norwegian state would be in serious financial trouble.
Low-Cost Oil And Gas May Make U.S. ''Energy Dominant'' | OilPrice.com

Sounds like the countries setting on top of the Black Gold can expect a good run up to 2050. Gas and diesel will be the low hanging fruit of oil producing nations for decades to come. In the USA the coming $6+ gas will drive more in rural America to gas up at home on sunshine. This will drive up the demand for cars that run on sunshine.

Just what every American wants…to be “forced” into something.

Hoping for EVs to take over ICEVs is hoping for an industry to win out who’s primary energy source is produced overseas by hostile actors.
It’s also going to take away 100’s of thousands of American jobs. Not just in the energy sector, but in the transportation sectors and service sectors who support the energy sector.
Show me the batteries and components WILL be made HERE by American companies and you’ll win a lot more hearts and minds.
I think EVs and electric equipment are great, but not at the sacrifice of an entire American industry.

Yes, oil is a curse for all countries except for those producing it. But things may change fast and expensive oil from installations fare out in the sea can hit the wall if alternative energy gets big enough, hard to compete on production cost with a guy that can take his Hilux to the oil field.
