Possible DEF shortages

There's a substantial difference between
"I can't find any XXX" and
"My retailer of choice doesn't have XXX at the price I usually pay"
They only had 2 of the more expensive blue DEF left.
This is in a Walmart that usually has pallets of it in stock.
WalMart brand is $7.98
Blue DEF brand is $13.98

Well maybe when you get done complaining about China you should shop somewhere other than Walmart.
Blue DEF isn't the only other choice.

Its not the only place where DEF is out of stock. NAPA, Lowe’s, etc. are also typically low on stock or sold out. Of course there’s plenty of the ā€premium DEFā€ for $20.
BTW, I have a right to and should complain about ā€œmade in Chinaā€. It costs us American jobs and supply chain interruptions. You should, too.

Still two Kleen 55gal drums for $170, Kleen for $9.50, and Blue for 20. Supply problem must just be in certain areas...not here.

And still, you shop at Walmart???

Well, sure for lots of other things, but I’ve pretty much given up on the DEF.
You have to understand something, WalMart came to my town and wiped out all the smaller stores. It’s the only option for some of our needs.

Hypocrisy is rampant. We are all guilty. But Walmart isn't my go-to for anything. And I try to know where the stuff I buy comes from.

I haven't been to a Wmart in years because we do have better options available. Even ordering a better product on-line is an option I use.

You either patronize Wallmat or you don’t. I have become ambivalent on that. I don’t understand those who shop there on one hand, and complain about imports in the next breath.

That’s hypocritical, in my eyes.

No matter where you live, there are options.

Don use DEF for toilet paper. It burns on sensitive areas.

Easy to say if you live where there are a lot of towns and a lot of stores/shopping choices.

I for one am thankful for Walmart coming to the nearest town. Until they came to town it meant a trip of 175 miles one way to Reno every two weeks to buy everyday living supplies that WERE NOT available locally. Walmart did NOT wipe out smaller stores because there simply weren't any. A grocery store, hardware store, a farm/ranch supply store, and a small lumber yard is all there was and they are still here today. Everybody in the area drove either to Reno (175 miles one way) or Salt Lake City (353 miles one way) to do their shopping. Those that want more variety than Walmart offers still do!

So let me get this straight, I walk into a Walmart and buy a dozen eggs made in USA, a gallon of milk, a pound of butter, also made in USA or some DEF and that makes me a hypocrite?
Because they sell a lot of Chinese stuff?
Doesnt my local hardware store carry a lot of the same Chinese stuff? Aren’t we at the point where everything is made in China?

The way I see it, the only difference is who owns the store and gets the profit. Walton family gets my money versus a local store owner. Walmart employs way more local people who work there.

And just for the record, I buy a crap ton of stuff from local hardware stores, lumber yards and farming & tractor parts shops.

Walmart gets caught up in Confusing the Symptom, With The Disease, including by me.....

I've called them chinamart at times, but in Canada, they also have Canadian sourced products that I will chose over imports. (Here, I don't consider USA an import, so I guess I need a dictionary... :)).

It struck me recently, when those PRC mil jets overflew Taiwan, how really lost we (as a society) are.....

The world has always had sabre-rattling, and while getting anything dropped from the air on you is never good....... we (society) are not "seeing" beyond the smoke/mirrors....

All PRC has to do, to totally shut down a country, is stop sending cargo-ships.

If we (society) don't get that, NOW, then we never will.....

Rgds, D.

Stop shopping at Wal Mart and that will be a good start.
Dang dude, you must not have read the whole thread. WalMart isn’t the only store with empty DEF shelves, but whatever. And it’s a place I might go to once a week for a few items.

I never said don’t shop at Walmart. Simply, if you choose to shop at Walmart, understand that their business model includes sourcing as many things offshore as possible. That’s what keeps their prices low and their profits high. That’s their right.

You also have the right to shop at another retailer. That may require you to pay higher prices or travel a hundred miles.

Just don’t complain about it. It’s your choice to make... nobody else’s.

Personally, I don’t spend much money at Walmart. Don’t like the stores, choices, or the clientele. I did stop there last week, though, looking for distilled water... they were out.
