Mandates to reduce ICE pollution are inevitable if the voters are insisting that their representatives "DO SOMETHING!" to respond to air as nasty as Delhi and Peking.

Mandates or legislation. Legislation would be the constitutional route.

And school buses are yellow.

You know what that has to do with the discussion?

Nothing.

Same as your reply above.

So you're agreeing with my statement that there IS a mandate in California?

Thanks for the affirmative reply.

Make sure to respond to airbiscuit and steppenwolfe that they are WRONG and that there is indeed, a state government that has mandated that you can no longer buy an ICE vehicle after a certain date.

Not sure why they are confused by that, but I'm sure you can clear it up for them by putting up another sunset picture.

I don't understand why you are getting all agitated. I thought it was common knowledge that this present governor said ICE's will be phased out. And I thought this was relevant to a discussion that is about the changeover to EV's. No?

Is there currently a mandate that prohibits the sale of ICE vehicles in the US? NO
Did the California Governor sign an executive order banning the sale of passenger ICE vehicles? Yes, beginning in 2035

Maybe someone with a clever mind can figure out a way to hang on to their ICEV for the next 14 years and beyond.

We'll all live through this.

If you would look around you would see how EV sales are growing month over month without mandates. You cannot mandate people to buy something that does not exist. Tesla the world EV poster boy only plan to be adding 20,000,000 new EVs annually by 2030 which is 9 years from now. Ford is years away from filling F-150 Lightning preorders. Look around and the only EV mandate is coming from the general public. Don't let others trip you up during the EV paradyme shift.

And this is why I normally ignore threads like these.

You guys are intentionally creating a circular argument, just for the sake of having something to argue about.

I was not the one who said there were no mandates.

I have said that the future will be EV vehicles. It absolutely will be. Someday, it will happen. I don't doubt it. Never said it wouldn't happen. Said several times that it would happen. I don't "fear" it. Or any other crapola you can invent that I said.

I did say that it wasn't ready "yet".

Read my posts, on this thread. Go back and read my early ones on this thread. Or better yet, have a grown up read them to you, and explain them to you.

I have only stated that I was not "for" a government mandate requiring it. Gave the example of my own great grandfather and not buying a tractor. He had the choice, based on his own needs and economic situations. He wasn't "mandated" to do so, kept horses, etc, etc. I also said that I don't want the government, at any level to tell me what I can and can't buy as far as ICE vehicles or not. It's not about "fearing the future", or any other tripe. It's about economic sense for the consumer.

Others have said on this thread that "there is no mandate". I have only pointed out that there is currently a mandate in California.

Others directly denied that there was.

Looking directly at you, airbiscuit and steppenwolfe.

California (the member) then posts a picture of a sunset and says that their IS a mandate. Call it whatever "cool phrase" you want to call it. Does it make it more "friendly" to call it an "executive order"? A rose by any other name? Or a horse apple by any other name? You still have a government entity dictating what you can or can't spend your money on.

And California (the member) is convinced that now, somehow I'm "agitated". Because it's "common knowledge" that governor of California (the state) has issued an "executive order".

No kidding. But it's obviously not "common knowledge" if airbiscuit and steppenwolf don't know about it, or is it?

And I'm not "agitated" California (the member). I'm just sick of you guys so desperately trying to drag me, or anyone else that disagrees with you into this "circular argument" b.s.

Well, you better set Gale straight then...

Have at it boys, argue semantics with each other until the cows come home.

Maybe you didn't reference a mandate, but others have. I'm glad that you do understand that EVs have a future. Hope you're feeling more sanguine now.

FWIW, I like my current ICEVs. I'm just not all that wound up that EVs are finding favor. Cheers!
