There’s some amazing songs on that top 20 list!
I was born after them, but heard them as a youth and many of those linger on today. A testament to the quality of their sound. One that is funny to me is “Downtown” featured in a Jerry Seinfeld episode.
Heart Full of Soul was a real groundbreaking sound.

My parents didn't have a station wagon, but I sure remember our two daughters riding, playing, sleeping, etc. in the back of our station wagons.

When the needle was worn, you needed to add a weight to the arm, to keep the worn needle from "skipping" ,,
or sometimes, there was a scratch on the record, and the penny weight would help keep the song progressing.

Old enough to remember dialing a phone number just to find out the time.

The nearby bank. I still remember the number after 50+ years. 985-1212. I just tried it, out of service.

I did this in the early 70's in my dad's wagon. If I did that today, I'd get motion sickness.
Getting old sucks but sure beats the alternative!

We could pick up WLS into north Florida on a good night.

I was aware of WLS, but they didn't come in very well here in northern New England. "The" station when I was in high school (mid 60s) was WKBW from Buffalo, with WPTR (Albany) and WBZ (Boston) as alternative choices. WBZ came in during the day too. Way better than our crappy local station.

I remember well the owner of our local gas station telling me that if someone had told him he would be able to put $10 of gas into a car he would have called them crazy.

Actually, even into the 80s a lot of the econoboxes had only 10 or 11 gallon tanks, so they wouldn't take much more than $10 worth, so that doesn't go as far back as you'd think. Then again, I'm in my 70s so the 80s were fairly recent history .

Good thing it was cheap, when I got my '66 Impala SS396 in '68, I burned a lot of it cruising on the weekends.

I had a '65 with a 327 in the early 70s. That thing, as they say would pass anything but a gas station.

Then they put someone else on our party line so we got a PRIVATE line...177W.
