I have several battery powered Makita Drills. Batteries cost more than a Drill. However, they never fail to drill 1-1/2 holes before they are dead.

Raleigh, NC had a Dewalt shop that rebuilt all my 18V dewalt tools. They were like new. I gave them to a young friend starting out in business. They were solid toolsI still use my over 20 year old DeWalt 12V Drill and have bought couple of used spares dirt cheap from eBay vendors.
It's terribly outdated but still works fine for light duty work, and new non-OEM batteries are cheap.
Yes I know you get what you pay for, but they still work fine for me for now....
