Price to install a service door

My double French door patio doors are fogged... the seals are bad.

Had several glass companies come out because it is on my wish list.

All refused to quote replacing triple pane glass... even a shop I know.

The only option when offered was quote to replace the entire French Door set... for $6500 pre-pandemic.

Reason is the tint may not match adjacent panels and fear of door FM damage removing/replacing.

We have a door like that,, literally, I could get ZERO people to quote the install.
Even a close friend that is a neighbor said "NO WAY!"
It must be a tricky install,, so our mid 1970's steel door got a coat of tractor enamel,,

before,,:

After 2 coats of custom blended tractor paints,,

My plan was to try to come close to the color the wife picked with the enamel.
The enamel would be the "primer"
Then, we would paint the door with the color that she chose.

I ended up virtually matching the color she wanted,
so, for now, another coat of paint is on hold.

Everyone seems to like the very high gloss of the paint
you do not see gloss used much in home decoration

The gloss makes the door "catch your eye",, which is what an entrance door is supposed to do,,,.
I'm impressed - CADplans. That's going to result in a brand new door with relatively little cost.

Thanks for the complement!!

I spent two full days prepping the door for paint, I have never spent that much time on an item this small.

The weather was perfect, and I had hardener in the paint, so, once the painting started,, I had to keep going.
The painting only took 90 minutes, from mixing the hardener to finish cleaning the gun,, 2 coats..

I mixed three tractor paints,,
50% Allis Chalmers Orange
35% International Harvester Red
15% John Deere Green

And now it’s almost Kubota orange.

That is just a gorgeous door. I would never have guessed JD green in it.

How did you choose the blend?

All the best,

Peter

Sodium Hydroxide (Drano) and lead pipes or even copper pipes, don't get along well at all.
Never heard of copper drain pipes. That would be some real money.

Those were colors that I had at my shop at the time,,
I was simply trying to get close to the chosen color to allow the enamel to be a primer for the finish coat of paint.

The orange was too bright,
the red was too dark
the green seemed to shift the color without making it darker.

It was PURE coincidence that I hit the color that the wife had selected.
I think her desire was to complement the color in the brick.

I wanted a door like I had seen in a new home development.
That home has a door that I would describe as a radical color,,:

a yellow that would be on a 1960's VW "Hippie Bus",,,

My choice was rejected ,,,, by EVERYBODY!! o_O :ROFLMAO:

Commercial installations use large copper sanitary piping. Probably not today as it's super expensive but so is CPVC for some reason.

My parents had plumbing installed in our home in the early 60's. Everything copper up the 3" drains, fittings and vent pipes. All soldered connections

My SIL bought a home in 2016,,
the drains for the ENTIRE house are 3" copper, some run the full length of a 75' ranch house,,
three bathrooms,,,

I have been trying to talk him into replacing the drains since they moved in.
(I even offered to haul away the old drains,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :ROFLMAO: )

The house was built in 1956,,
