Think the only vehicle I never flogged was my dad's 67 Corvette Stingray convertible. It had a big block 427 with 390 horses so flogging it would have meant the removal of my drivers license by the cops. I drove it sedately and fiddled with a ton of girls in it too, Girls are were attracted to a Vette for some reason and they all wanted to go for a ride and I obliged of course and always found a way to park somewhere secluded and do something considered a big no back then, kissing them...lol Those were the days. Just fond memories now that I'm a professional dirty old man.

On the flip side, I used to know a kid that would race his fathers Corvette all around their property. It was crazy, literally a child with some obscene go-kart.

I may have been jealous.

I love the aesthetics of pipe sticking through the hood, but in this case I don't mind the sacrifice.
Agreed to a certain extent; except when a engine starts a regen when operating in dry grass. The exhaust pointing down is just asking to start a fire. I just got a new tractor and have already decided that if one starts in those conditions I will have to cancel it and find a nice gravel road and to a forced parked regen. With that in mind, I wish they had stuck with the aesthetically pleasing exhaust stack.

I'll admit, that had not crossed my mind, ignorance being bliss and whatnot. I'm blessed to live in a place that seldom sees such sustained warmth, the flip side is that winter physically hurts me. :ROFLMAO:

That's a terribly wasteful thing to do. Be a real conservationist and spread it on your driveway for summer dust control.
Or, for folks in rust belt areas, spray it on your undercarriages👍

But wait, they're okay with NASCAR building an entire race track inside the LA Colosseum and running a race that burns all that fuel and spills all those fluids on the ground. Not to mention all the spectators that drove to the track. Funny how money works.
Nothing compared to all the fuel that is burned up in the skies! (If we were serious about reducing emissions we'd smash the Pentagon's budget [US military is the single largest polluter on the planet].)

6.4? You guys haven't lived life on the edge until you've been within 50 feet of a 7.3 Powerstroke. I'm as far away from being a tree-hugger as a guy can get, but even I don't like being around those trucks. Even in 100% stock form those will gag you to death.
I'll see you a 7.3L Powerstroke and raise you a 7.3L IDI! My 12v Cummins isn't a whole lot better either.

For the optimal experience go to Manilla. Pretty much have to cover your mouth with cloth if outside and exposed to traffic. A TON of old IDI diesels.

That always seemed to help slow the rust, which is why you can't do it now. Instead, if you'd like, you can pay a 3rd party an obscene amount to coat your car in a chemical that is certainly more environmentally friendly, and of course works just as well if not better, right? Right?

Air Pollution is a problem -- In population Centers. In Cities. You can see the haze from a 100 miles away driving toward one.

An intelligent solution would be; do something about mass transportation. I lived in/near a big City for years and I would much rather take a Bus or a Rail to work than drive my car/truck in bumper to bumper, nutstobutts traffic in the snow, the rain, the dark and through accident slow-downs.

But that would require, as I said -- Intelligence. And honesty. Or at least, something approaching honesty. Or caring about the people the out-and-out thieves in Office are supposed to serve.

They're not there to serve, as far as they're concerned, they're there to steal. And, hoo-boy, are they ever good at it.

How come virtually every civilized Country on Earth has an actual working Mass Transit System? Europe, Japan, even China, have HSR's that (R U sitting down?) actually work.

They tried an HSR in Kali. The usual suspects stole all the money. And the HSR is stalled. Not going anywhere. Billions stolen. Look it up. Billions

So while I do appreciate clean air, clean water, clean fun and clean underwear, I'm not going to get excited about listening to the same people that are stealing all this money preach to me about how people in the Countryside, where we don't really have an air pollution problem, need to suffer because the people in the Cities are stealing everything that isn't tied down.

I would love, love, to see an HSR system from Miami to Boston with several stops along the way. Also from Naples to Chicago (Get a lot of people from the Miami Area going that way). But it won't happen. The pols would steal everything long before it got to its desired location. The Unions and their Mob Bosses would lead that charge.

Through the Countryside? It would go smooth as can be. Anywhere near Cities? fuhgeddaboudit

And this Forum serves people that live outside Population Centers. By a wide margin. But I'll get reported for this post. Beaucoup times

It doesn't fit The Narrative™

Luckily I’m in a cab, so my pre T4 tractors don’t give me any breathing issues.
I am all for cleaning up the air, but I still think the way they do it is suspect.
1. Takes more fuel to run a DPF than same engine without DPF, that creates more fuel consumption. Everyone admits “idling around” is bad for a DPF equipped diesel.
2. DPFs and all the accessories themselves have to be manufactured, transported, installed and repaired, creating more pollution and fuel consumption.
3. Where do all the trapped particulates go? They don’t just disappear! They still exist. So wouldn’t they still be polluting the ground or wherever else they get buried?

Theres also the drawbacks of increased cost of ownership.

Have all these drawbacks been weighed against the cleaner air?

All good points, our society has moved beyond waiting for evidence to form an opinion, now we form the opinion first.
I like the cleaner air, but not every effort on the path to get there is going to improve the air. Like you I wonder if the DPF is a net gain or a net loss for the atmosphere.
