Why?

Because ALL wavelengths are emitted from all sources, and all radiant emissions are ultimately absorbed and converted to HEAT, only to be re-emitted by your wood stove ;-)
Wood stoves produce gamma radiation.

Interesting.

But the question becomes, why do we need to cloud the waters with parts of the spectrum we're not even talking about?
Because it's important to give accurate information, look at all the evidence, and admit that one might be mistaken in what they thought they knew.

Heck, several years ago I had half a dozen people ready to come up here and beat me because I just could not get the understanding of some hydraulic function to compute in my brain. Finally, someone explained it in terms that I could comprehend, and I apologized and thanked them. When it clicked, it made the empty coconut sound in my head.

Using electromagnetic waves as a substitute for infrared radiation in a discussion about what energy a wood stove puts out is the definition of misleading. Lets be specific on what were talking about instead of broadening the spectrum. No pun intended.

Interesting.
YOU produce gamma radiation! It's all a matter of degree. Half life being what it is ;-)

Ah, but it was not incorrect.

Heat is movement. Movement is heat. I’m always amazed when I see a flowing brook and it’s -25F.
Think about how many torches and gallons of fuel it would take to melt a block of ice the size of the stream, and that is how much energy the water molecules bouncing off each other are making.
Is this right? Seems huge.
