Keystone 1 & 2 provide oil to Midwest refineries. While phase 3 is a larger capacity to TX , that cannot be utilized without the XL. phase 1 & 2 restrict what can be delivered to Tx. Therefore the XL was to provide up to 700,000 to TX in addition to what goes to Midwest in 1&2. It also was to deliver Bakken oil from Montana to Tx.
f’d America, on purpose by cancelling XL permits that were already approved. This is a clear attack on the American people and economy.
XL is required to get oil to the Texas refineries with more capacity.

good morning all
31 going up to 38 in sun, clouds, and then wet sleety weather tonight, maybe an inch accumulation.

I'm off early this morning to dermatologist. Showered for first time in two days, that felt good, peeled off last of bandages. Everything looks good.

Awful headlines this morning. I'm glad I cashed out a sizeable amount a week ago as stock market is going to get pummeled. I had too much equity anyway
and this rebalanced also.

Good morning, snow on distant hills to the east and west, while here we are fortunate to have only occasional flurries.

Some may remember me capping straining posts a while ago with aluminium sheet. I thought it would keep the rain out - and it certainly did for a while - now some very determined woodpeckers are having other ideas.

Mostly, if you catch any of the bass that were tagged, do you measure them and put them back ? Or maybe each tag has a QR barcode to a tasty recipe ... :giggle:

Can’t bring it up. But what makes it a qualified source?
sorry, I guess it shows up because I have a subscription.
Morningstar is considered a qualified source for most investment information. They try to be apolitical and follow the numbers.
I sent you a PM with the article

All of my European friends have been silent… the ones I have reached out are in disbelief but a few with WWII memories have seen it all before.

The unthinkable has happened and an entire generation plus has never faced the current situation.

I took a lot of flak years ago when Reagan called Russia the Evil Empire… this is when I was working in Europe and able to see AirForce One on the tarmac in Salzburg Austria…

One thing Austrians are obsessive is home heating.

Unlike here where many regions ban use or install of wood fired heating each Austrian home, condo, townhouse is required to have a flue suitable for wood heat even if concealed and not used.

Most of my colleagues have several ways to heat…

All have wood ceramic tile stoves, some wood boilers, many multi fuel options that include natural gas, propane, heating oil in reserve plus surprisingly solar making inroads…

Not unusual to have an all electric kitchen with a small built in wood stove tucked in the corner that has some coiled copper running through to heat water in a pinch.

I wish we were not going the direction of 100% electric banning new gas installs and wood/coal because the old saying all eggs in one basket…

Good Morning!!!! 39F @ 4:00AM. A mainly sunny sky. High 57F. Winds light and variable.
A hard freeze warning has been issued for this morning and again tonight. And once again, there's no longer any rain in the 10-day forecast, even though the weather lady was calling for some next week on last night's broadcast. The only thing for sure is it will either rain next week or not.

Who knows what goes on in the minds of woodpeckers, Eric. Maybe all that hammering has left their brains a bit scrambled? If you decide to replace the aluminum, maybe a coat of paint would prevent them from seeing their reflection, and they'd leave it alone. Or maybe they like the sound it makes when pecked, in which case you're still screwed?

Interesting link on Ukraine, Drew, but I found the link on that page that discussed delayed filing for Social Security more pertinent to my current situation. And that page also had even more Social Security links to explore.

Nice job on the grout, David. You'd never know you're inside a shipping container.

Good news on the cataract surgery, especially to those of us that have already been diagnosed.

Hope those of you dealing with ice and freezing rain continue to be careful. Scenes of frozen freeways from Oregon have me rethinking that direction.

Thinking back on the failed boot soles, it may have been due to the soaking they took last summer while exploring the bottom of Lake Oroville. More incentive for redoubling my efforts to locate a pair of more suitable river shoes. And thanks for the tips on replacement hiking boots.

No surprises with yesterday's machining task, other than the guy showing up an hour and a half late, which was somewhat offset by the pizza and beer he brought for lunch.

Watched a zoom seminar on the tax implications of the PG&E Camp Fire settlement, which seems to boil down to some of the money being taxable as ordinary income, and some not.

Hang in there gang, Friday’s comin,!

40 and not going any higher, then rain.

At least yesterday was a sunny 70 and got many of the daffodils blooming.

Spent a few hours walking the blade trimmer around and clearing my hazelnut grove and a few other areas of saplings and vines that are so persistent...I hadn't cleared one area in 3 years and it is amazing how big the sweetgums can get.

Still have some outside chores to complete that I hope to do before the rain comes.

Eric, your woodpeckers have some tough beaks. Wonder what the kgf/cm2 would be.

Kyle, better eat your spinach before you straighten the other rod.

Morning all, 30 and grey, calling for mystery weather tonight into tomorrow.
Russia invaded Ukraine, half of my family is from there......

My soon to be 68 yo wife had cataract surgery with corrective lens implants. Now 20-20 vision and no glasses after wearing them over 60 years!
Medicare paid for just cataracts, not implants but well worth the few $K.
She says colors are now vivid!
Which lens did she opt for?

Was the procedure Laser Assist?

good trip to new dermatologist, she was great. Pleasant, thorough and what I hoped for.
She froze my head, biopsied something on my back and otherwise said I was good to go for another six months.
And the parts on my ears I was worried about, she said looked ok.

had to drive through my lawn to get back in house, cable contractors putting down new high speed Verizon Fios put their big reel of cable at end of my driveway.
Comcast just raised their speed for no additional cost, though their claims and SpeedTest don't agree. But still plenty fast.
I do not need one terabyte of download speed. But Verizon really dukes it out with Comcast here, would be nice if that resulted in lower than 150 bucks a month for cable and phone.
And I don't buy anything extra either.

should be a quiet day with yukky weather coming in.

Good morning to all! Low was 12° and guess what? ...... yep, 4" + of snow! Some 'dusting'. We must have the same weather guessers as LFN.....

All the snow must have dumped in the wee hours, it's sunny now, just a few broken up clouds, but the wind has kicked up and is blowing the powder light snow around. Maybe it will clear the driveway for me? There's always hope...

No issues with the pellet stove overnight. Purring nicely. I still have my eyebrows....😬

Mostly, no, definitely not you that needs to be silenced, nor anyone else here on the forums. It's basically a couple of nasty belligerent neighbors that create their own issues.🤬

Kyle, nice job on the straightening of the rod, hopefully the next one cooperates without too much effort! (y)

RS, I have the same Crossman, but don't use it too often. My 'go to' for rodent control is a Beeman RS2 series. Single pump, break barrel. It comes with two barrels, .177 cal and a .22 cal. Pellet. It's up to 1000fps using .177.image.jpg
Also came with a nice soft storage case and the scope. I am very happy with the accuracy. The .22 cal takes out the critters with one shot, sometimes the .177 requires a follow up....

Today will be an inside piddling around day. I think that we may polish up the furniture today, it's due for sure. The humidity is so low, the wood absorbs any wax almost instantly. The oak floors are due for another waxing, but that might be a bit too much to tackle today.

I picked up a couple of prime ribeyes and a small bag of 'baby dutch golden' potatoes. They are on the menu for dinner tonight along with the last 2 corn on the cob that were frozen last season. I think the wifey is also going to do an asian stir fry. Should make for good eatin'🤤

Everyone have a great day!

Just a very few years ago, and for two summers, I'd sometime hear the darndest noise outside and finally discovered it was a woodpecker hammering away at the metal rain gutter around the eaves of this house. Apparently it never did any damage and I have no idea why he was doing that unless he just liked the sound.

Lots of mud, and one of the hikers found a few flecks of gold in his pan.
