Shucks pot growing has become quite a science with some universities now offering a PHD degree in 'potology'.
We've lost some large hydroponic food sources as growing pot was more profitable than veggies even with all the security requirements and quality controls..

A decade or so ago, I was brewing beer and I was getting the supplies and equipment from a small chain of garden stores in NC. Yes, a garden store was selling brewing equipment.

The store had three sections, beer brewing and wine making, a garden center as one would expect, and a hydroponics. Lots of hydroponic information and equipment. Some of the hydroponic setups were designed to grow plants in a closet.... I know that is what I have always dreamed of doing, growing heirloom tomatoes in my closet....

The store is in a college town with several other major universities within driving distance...

Seems most states that legalize it also allow residents to grow their own. Seems kind of self defeating if they hope to make anything in tax revenue.

Yes they do. But what is going for the tax side is a LOT of users are too lazy to grow their own. No different than growing/buying tomatoes.

Washington State here. We had an unusual build go up near by. Had huge ventilation and filter systems on the buildings. I asked my buddy, who knows everything and talks to everybody. He said he heard, it's "the devil's lettuce" grow operation. I shrugged and thought that was interesting. Then about a year later, talking to the local barista and mention something about those funny looking buildings and she said it was a raspberry plant and cloning operation. They filter all the air coming in and the workers change out of their street cloths and everything, pretty sterile.

Hard to miss them. Get off exit 123 northbound and they stare you in the face with 3' high numbers on the side of the pot dispensary.
