Warning About Dealers And Their Pricing

Interesting. When I bought my new Kubota-Kneverland round bailer from my local Kubota dealer (I've purchased around 10 tractors from him over the years), I traded in my 7 year old NH roll belt. He gave me more than I thought it was worth on trade in plus Kubota added a 5 grand ag discount and I financed the balance (10 grand) with Kubota at 0 percent with quarterly payments. and he sold me the bailer well below what the Kubota 'build one' website lists it for.
Huh?? I thought you paid cash for everything :poop: I am disappointed because in your signature you stated NO PAYMENT BOOKS. Go figure Pinocchio..:ROFLMAO:

I just finalized a deal on a new tractor. They were 9% below what the online builder suggested.

Seems like 3 or 4 years ago and longer it was standard to expect 15% below online build price. I wonder, will we ever get back to that? We are such a "gotta have it now" society that we are willing to pay retail and even above retail to fulfill that desire. Makes it hard for the frugal buyer.

Sounds like in today's market you made an excellent deal. Enjoy the new tractor and start a thread with pics when you get it!!!! (y)

Not until we change the culture back to what credit cards are. "Slave to the Lender" and all that. Cars/Homes/Land I get it. ( paid cash for the hunny over there <======) Last thing on my book is the property, setting up 529s for the curtain climbers has put that on hold.;)

Credit is a tool like a tractor. You can use it for many things and can get hurt, even badly, if you are not careful.

I autopay my credit card in full every month. Never pay a fee or interest and get bonuses and discounts for using it. We literally earn 2-4k per year in cash back or similar programs. Any built-in costs for using a card are there for using cash, too. Still pretty rare to see cash discounts and those are not usually worth it.

Any loan under the rate at which I can earn returns in the market is better than paying cash as my money is earning more for me than I am paying in interest. Math doesn't care if you buy a toy or a necessity. Fixed rate loans are also inflation-proof. That being said, loans are not a panacea for being broke. If you can afford it with cash, you may not be able to afford it with credit.

Sometime there are cash discounts, but there's no denying that the cost of "perks" from using a card comes from somewhere -- presumably higher prices that you're paying.

Personally I see it as a "tragedy of the commons" type thing -- originally it was a few people benefitting without prices going up. Then everyone wants to get on board/benefit, and now prices have been raised across the board.

I agree credit is a tool and can be used for good or bad, but financing via a 3rd party is fundamentally different from using a credit card which imposes fees on the seller.

Credit cards certainly provide value for some - purchase protection, extended warranties, spending summaries, etc. Unfortunately, the costs of this is spread across all consumers, rather than just being attributed to those who value those features.

Exactly. No sense in using cash as the prices are already set assuming credit. Wishing will not change it. For sellers and buyers credit is often safer and easier.
