My 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon has ALL the bells and whistles. I got a substantial discount but still paid a fortune. I'm SURE glad I like and really enjoy it.

Yes, ponytug - at times I feel FCA was trying to duplicate a Rolls Royce Phantom when they built my Taco Wagon. I have NEVER previously owned a vehicle where I didn't use all the features/amenities. Now I do ...............

I was looking on Facebook Marketplace yesterday. As I recall a 2018 F150 crew cab, XLT, $33,000. It had over 90,000 miles on it.

If you don't need it now, I would wait. With the supply chain disruptions, steel prices, crude oil zigzags, it is going to be awhile before dealers are going to be offering anything much beyond MSRP+ pricing on whatever models and options get sent there. I was reading yesterday about Broncos not getting rear seat fan controls, BMWs not having infotainment connections, Teslas not offering seat heaters, another brand not getting the fuel economy optimizers, etc., all due to chip shortfalls. The list goes on, and it is all over the map.
I'm not a big one for a bunch of bells and whistles, so maybe by the time I need something those will be on the used car lots.
Both my vehicles are still in decent shape now, but they're getting long in the tooth ('06 and '01), hopefully prices come down to earth before I need to replace them

Tough to find any truck less than 10 years old for less than $30k. About all that's on the used car lots around here are a handful of tacomas, and even they're fetching ridiculous prices.
By the time things settle back down all I'll be able to find is one of those magic EV pickups.
Meh. While an EV would probably be adequate for what I use a truck for, it's not something I'd go out of my way to own. Absolutely HATE the ergonomics on them, with the giant touch screen that controls everything.

Talk about hard to swallow pricing... This one is at a lot close to me.

I have the same, just older. It’s hard the beat that truck and motor combination. But I have the 5.9 and you will get the 6.3 motor. IDK about the 2022 models but mine is extremely simple for maintenance. I change the oil and the oil, air, and fuel filters and close the hood. Not much else to maintain.

That would be a 6.7L motor ;)

The Dodge/Ram Cummins powered trucks were built with the farmer in mind.

At these prices I'll keep my 2014 pickup truck forever. If something breaks or wears out, I fix it. Much cheaper than replacing the truck. The key is fixing *everything* that breaks so you aren't driving a beater. I drive a small, high-mpg, car unless I need to haul or tow so the truck should last decades.

It will be a built truck. I pick out what all I want. Some things come stock. I did upgrade the tires wheels and towing packing with gooseneck hookup and spray in liner. Hay dude is right. It will be a 6.7. I need something better than a half ton to pull hay and the tractor. I own the little 45 horse kioti. But I pull other ppls equipment too. Would be nice to haul more than 6 rolls of hay at a time. Talk about time consuming just getting hay back to the barn. They do have one on lot I like but it’s white. A 2019 with 20k miles. 69.5k. For a few more why not get exactly what I want and be the first to fart in the seat? Coming from the country and being financially challenged 73k is a HUGE chunk of change. I don’t even make 73 a year! Most I’ve ever paid for a truck was 30. Granted that was 11 years ago.
I remember around 08-10 things went up. Never came back down to what they were. Course they never go back to original after an inflation. I tell ya, the govment makin it hard on a lil man!

That's my plan, too. So far, so good.

I can't resist; locally 2018 F250, 42,000 miles on it, $75,000. Of course, if you want fancy, there is a used 2021 1500 TRX for $110k, but that is stretching my definition of a pickup. Around here most of the used trucks are "rare metal", or "Celebrity special edition brand X". Too many bells and whistles for me to maintain and find parts for, but great for dealers and sales folks selling on commission, which is why I flew a few states over to get my last pickup.

Stay safe out there!

All the best,

Peter

I’m the same way. I have a Jeep for daily driving and the wife has a Subaru. I just drive the truck when a truck is needed. Kept under a carport.

Yep - scary prices out there. Used to be a time where I thought I was paid well. Could even comfortably afford a new truck!

I make a lot more money now, but cannot afford a new rig, even if I was being fiscally irresponsible. Same goes for houses.

I think the chip shortage will end like a dam breach. Eventually, the stockpiled vehicles will hit the market and the manufactures will need to "fire - sale" the lot to keep their production lines going. The used market will crash entirely.
