If you kill the one or two that are causing the problem, chances are pretty good you won't have an issue again.

I worked at the Jaguar store in Sandy Eggo, and I can't tell you how many newer Jags were totaled because of wiring damage caused by squirrels....if they chew thru the wrong wire and cause a short,

I put one to sleep and relocated another, I think I got the trouble maker.

I'll be watching closely, got the moth balls under the hood, so now it smells like an old ladies closet.

A guy told me today, he heard of mice destroying a bmw, like a total insurance loss! the people put those bait blocks in it cause of a small problem and that attracted a whole bunch of them

A friend of the family (Joe) had a squirrel nesting between the transmission and the sheet-metal of his class c motor-home. He tried sticks and all sorts of contraptions to get it out; finally he went to the local car wash and used the high pressure wand (this was before you had pressure washers around the house) and got it out. But that squirrel wouldn't give up. As he was directing the water at the critter, it was trying its hardest to get back to the motor-home. Picture a wet squirrel walking into 80mph wind and water. Joe, yelled to his wife Peggy, "DRIVE AWAY, DRIVE AWAY". Joe walked way down the street and went home with the wife, leaving the wet squirrel at the car wash.

That was a determined critter

He put his HavaHart trap out every night for about 3 weeks and nearly every night he had another "friend" in the trap.

I figured I could do that if I had to, but like I said never had a problem with them before. cept maybe tearing up trash

if you opt to relocate spray paint there tails so you can see if they come back

also put them a cross a large river

I thought about notching their ears, but I guess the spray paint would be less traumatic for both of us. I moved one just a mile away, I've heard they don't travel far, could spend their whole life in one yard?

lectro88 mentioned rabbis, but a vet told me they can't get it. I had a pet squirrel one year, I rescued a baby and had it till it got big. One day he was frothing at the mouth and I got scared but the vet said probably just ate something bad.

That one had me laughing!! I could just picture the "squirrel" running out, Black with White strips:D would have been an evil twist.

Sitting in the shop right now...squirrels apparently chewed my washer fluid hoses all through my Outback. Now I have to watch Caddyshack again to see how to stop them.

You really need to keep your heart out of this.
relocation is giving this destructive creature the ability to continue to reproduce and possibly giving someone else your problem.
This squirrel has developed this destructive behavior and will pass it on to its offspring if not teach them to do so.
Squirrels are “tree rats” a large rat in a tree that has the ability to cause great expense and damage to vehicles, equipment and our homes.
this garbage about we took over their home is nonsense.
drive down the road they have plenty of places to pick.
but no they picked your property where you pay taxes and try to maintain in “harmony”
Killem All.
they’re varmints, Rodents. Pests that everyone says aren’t they cute.
makes me sick.

If I sound angry. No
Anger couldn’t pay taxes on how I feel about this type of topic.
I had a male squirrel challenge me once.
here’s what happened.
I was in my 30x30 pole barn.
had an old airplane wing up laying on the rafters. Metal pole welded rafters.
apparently a nest had been built in side this very inexpensive item. A Cessna wing.
this squirrel mock charged me and that was one of the last mistakes it made.
I grabbed the ole 22 and put a round in him. Turned out not only was he nuts,. He had them too.
anyway this guy with a 22 hole passing through him decided he wanted revenge and continued to come at me. It took 3 more shots for a total of 4 to stop this animal.
I have never had or seen that before.
typically 1 shot = 1 kill. Heck I have killed most with a pellet riffle.
I’m not so sure this guy wasn’t rabid.
but I ended up finding the nest and how do I say this to not offend the tree hugging animal lovers.
the babies didn’t leave the nest. How about that.
I got mom later too.
but it took several days.
if you dally and play nice sorry to say. It’s your own fault for giving them the opportunity reek havoc on your belongings.
oh that’s right your stuff is actually theirs because you invaded their home.

Hit me twice in as many days,

The other day my wife says the brake light on our Grand Cherokee is on so I told her wiggle the E brake lever (quirk) she says that doesn't make it go off.
I pop the hood and find a squirrel nest tucked in against the firewall next to master cylinder. 18 inch long sticks and branches! couldn't believe it as this car is driven everyday. It chewed thru 4 wires and 2 winshield washer hoses!

Chewed the brake reservoir sensor wires right to the plug, you can't even buy that at dealer. Had to use owed favors at the junkyard to even get them to look for such a part.

Anyway since it never happened before (had plenty of mouse nests) I was kinda joking about it and even though it took 4 hours of my time I accepted it. This morning my wife says the cat is checking out the Jeep, I told her oh he probably just smells something from yesterday, but just to be sure I checked under the hood.

Now I almost blew up, no nest but even more more wires chewed and broken, right down to the harness!!

Never imagined it could happen twice in 2 days, I've read about moth balls? I've set a have a heart trap. I've got a million squirrels in my yard and we have all lived together in peace. But now it's WAR!!

JB.
Live trap. Peanut butter on crackers gets them every time. If you want revenge on the squirrel drop the trap into a full stock tank of water. If you want revenge on a neighbor, release it on their land. If you just want the squirrel gone, release it down the road a mile.

We have lots of squirrels but so far no damage. The mice have caused havoc and now I feed them Tom cat bait continuously. Keeps the population down.

We like to kill and eat them here. Squirrel stew is good. I use either a 10-22 Ruger carbine or a 410. Here it's 10 in possession and 7 a day bag limit. Takes at least 10 for a pot of stew. We usually kill them and clean them and refrigerate the cleaned meat until we get enough to cook. We eat ground hogs too but you have to know how to prepare both. Both good to eat. Both vegeterians so the meat is always tasty.

City and suburban dwellers are clueless. today.

I could never get beyond the rat appearance of a skinned squirrel. No squirrel supper for me.
Understandable however, we take them apart after skinning so only the dissected meat remains.

Bet my wife could cook up some squirrel stew and serve it to you and if I didn't tell you what the meat was, you'd swear it was beef.
