HELP! Psycho squirrel!

   / HELP! Psycho squirrel! #41
For 30+ years we never had a squirrel problem, until this year, they absolutely overran the place. The neighbors, 1000' away, contracted with a local pest company. A few weeks later they gave up and refunded their money. I took out several with lead poisoning, .22 and 12 guage. I finally resorted to TomCat, 5 blocks disappeared from the bait trap the first day. A few days later - no squirrels.

I have no use for tree rats, a friends house burned to the ground from an electrical fire caused by squirrels in the attic.

Too bad you aren't closer, I would have removed them for you and cooked them and we could have had a nice dinner.

I've got 4 outdoor cats that keep small rodents away. Cheapest form of insurance.

Understandable however, we take them apart after skinning so only the dissected meat remains.

Bet my wife could cook up some squirrel stew and serve it to you and if I didn't tell you what the meat was, you'd swear it was beef.
You are probably right. I hunt deer, turkeys, javelins, and elk only, but I would try other game. But the sights of a skinned squirrel never was appetizing to me. If it didn’t look like a dead rat, it would probably be ok.

I wish we could keep outdoors cats. We have tried repeatedly but the great horned owls and coyotes have them for dinner.

That's why cat's are free! :ROFLMAO:

But all of your cats get eaten?

I've never seen any taken game animal that was taken apart that looked 'pretty' and I hunt everything you do but wild turkey's. Come to think about that, a person taken apart isn't very appealing either.

I find a collar with fur. They leave the barn at night and owls get them. Sometimes coyotes, but they aren’t as fast as the owls.
Fox and fisher will do a number on them here... along with raptors and the occasional lead pellet if they're strays and get into the wrong person's henhouse. ;)

Good news for me. The only damage was to the washer fluid lines. Outback has front and rear. Took him about 4 hours, but only cost me $100. I am going to miss my mechanic when we move. Now I can spend a day or two reducing the local squirrel population. I haven't noticed as many out on the property. Lots of deer and hog sign, though.
