HELP! Psycho squirrel!

Sounds like quite the little menace. We don't typically have small critters in our yard, my red healer keeps all the critters in line and out of our yard. And for under ground pests, that's where the rubber boa comes in. For your case, I would teach them buggers a lesson. Using that assault BB gun will scare the living daylights out of them buggers and they will high tail it for the trees. Just hide behind a bush or something and wait for the little menaces to enter range. Yes, their may be a few casualties, but that's how you keep a boundary around your place, they will eventually learn that your yard is a danger zone and leave your area be (including in your car). taking action in your car may work too. There has got to be ways to sucessfully detour your rodent away from your car.

My 12 year old wakes me up early this morning and says there's a squirrel under the van. I jump up and go out and check, but it was a false alarm.

I did end up putting the one I caught to sleep with a BB, this squirrel was scared from fighting and very aggressive. I did not want to release it only to become someone else's problem.

I'm thinking this was the trouble maker, maybe was displaced and trying to move into this area caused turf war with other squirrels already here. That's what may of caused this odd behavior of building a nest in a engine compartment.

I did put moth balls under hood in jeep and truck.
Hope this is the end of this saga.

Like I said, never had a problem with the tree rats before, even feed them old bread etc, 10 feet away from where we park and have enjoyed watching them.

JB.

As stated they are TREE RATS. They can also be rabid and/or carry rabies.
Although cute to watch not worth the effort to spare. Once they start a pattern they teach others and can cause a lot damage to your hard earned possessions.
Relocating just moves the problem, and it may come back anyway.

If you kill the one or two that are causing the problem, chances are pretty good you won't have an issue again.

I worked at the Jaguar store in Sandy Eggo, and I can't tell you how many newer Jags were totaled because of wiring damage caused by squirrels....if they chew thru the wrong wire and cause a short, it can burn the car to the ground - house too if it's in the garage when it goes up! We had one car towed in with bait blocks glued all over the engine compartment - bait was well chewed, but so were the wires!

I also had a few trying to nest in my attic, but got up there with my air rifle and shot the two that had gotten in, then repaired the soffits only to find another one digging at my new repairs. Shot him too and fixed the hole with metal flashing and now they don't even seem to go on the roof.

I think eliminating them permanently is the only thing that will work.

A friend of the family (Joe) had a squirrel nesting between the transmission and the sheet-metal of his class c motor-home. He tried sticks and all sorts of contraptions to get it out; finally he went to the local car wash and used the high pressure wand (this was before you had pressure washers around the house) and got it out. But that squirrel wouldn't give up. As he was directing the water at the critter, it was trying its hardest to get back to the motor-home. Picture a wet squirrel walking into 80mph wind and water. Joe, yelled to his wife Peggy, "DRIVE AWAY, DRIVE AWAY". Joe walked way down the street and went home with the wife, leaving the wet squirrel at the car wash.

My parents in Mass. had a huge squirrel problem in their suburban neighborhood until my dad decided to take care of the tree rats.
He put his HavaHart trap out every night for about 3 weeks and nearly every night he had another "friend" in the trap.
He then would put the whole trap in a 55 drum full of water and disposed of the squirrels in the trash.
I along with his neighbors wanted nothing to do with the mass murder, but all were happy when the area was cleared.
