I have a 4500 2 wheel drive I had a leak under my steering wheel this past summer, it turned out to be a leak in the steering box called the (H) box located under the tractor steering wheel, a seal in the top of the steering box. leaking steering fluid out the top of the tractor under the steering wheel. I took it off the tractor myself, took it to the shop and the shop replaced the seal, I reinstalled the steering box (H) box. Made sure every cable was connected with no leaks. Now as I drive the tractor it will not make shape turns to the right of left. It will make wide turns. I later assumed that my steering line had air in it from me removing and replacing the steering box. I tried to remove the air by jacking up my tractor off the front wheels, took off the steering fluid box cap, and turned my front wheels left and right for 30 mins. or more,, that appeared to have solved the issue, because as the tractor was jacked up off the front wheels, I could turn the tractor wheels shape both right and left. Now that I have removed the jacked the tractor and driving it around, it still will not let me make shape turns. Can someone please inform me what I may have installed wrong of not sited correct that keeping the tractor from making shape turns. Did I do the right steps to get the air out of my steering fluid lines?? Is there also another step I need to do to get the air out of my steering lines?? Is the problem air in my steering lines of something else??? Could the steering wheel long rod that goes in the steering box(H) not sited correct??? Please any advice will be helpful>>>>>>>>

Could be the steering cylinder itself bypassing fluid, had to recently replace mine for same problem.

Thanks for the reply John stark. I do not think it in the steering cylinder. Note. I disconnected the steering cylinder from both front wheels. I was able to manually turn the left wheel from left to right. But the right wheel I could not turn manually from left to right. Both front wheels turn around and around on the wheel HUB. Just the right wheel will not move left or right. Somewhere it froze/lock in the tractor wheel arm housing where the wheel spindle located. I do not know what you call this area,(between the top large castle nut and the wheel HUB). I reconnect the front wheel cylinder, but leave the right wheel disconnected from the front steering cylinder. Now the left wheel turns as normal, and the cylinder move as normal on the right side, since the right wheel is disconnected. Because the right wheel hub is froze/locked and won't move left or right. but will turn around, so it not in the HUB itself. It must be in the right wheel spindle housing. Is there a bearing in that spindle housing???? Is there a web site that show how to break down the spindle housing. How to install a front wheel Hub repair kit???????

If it's that spindle tower your talking about(has grease fitting on bottom) then ya might want to try shooting grease in there and try forcing it a bit, maybe it'll break free, if not, disassembly may be in order, there has to be some type of bearing/ bushing in there, some Mahindra parts places have an exploded view of some things, not sure on that specific piece, look up front axle assembly .

Thanks for the reply John Stark: It does has grease fittings, one side where you shoot grease in. next to that is a appear to be a grease exit with a bolt/nut. As I shoot grease in the grease fitting it comes right back out of the side from the bolt/nut. I attempted to hit the large HUB with a 4/4 6feet long, to make it budge. Trying to make the HUB turn a little left or right. How hard of hit can I give it?? Should i maybe use my sledge hammer, and give it a hard hit? If the damage inside the front axle is already done, would a hard hit damage anything anymore????

This is the previous thread on this tractor and the steering issue. It was started in April of 2021.

You don't want to hit it too hard, like I said you may have to just start disassembling that whole side to get to the root of the problem, if it were me I would just take it all apart because there is clearly an issue, even if you got it freed up, it's still needs addressed, new bearings/ bushing ect.

Might try some heat too! Something is seized.
