Are you hauling hay? Reason I ask is, my buddy hauls hay with a goose neck currently. He loads up to 17 round bales at a time and hauls them usually within 30 miles or less. Before the price of diesel went through the roof, he was considering one of the new type trailers that haul only about 10 bales, but when you get to where your delivering, you just pull a lever and they all roll off the side and you don't have to wait for someone to unload.
Yeah. Already have dual tandem hay trailer I’m satisfied with.

Looking at large dump trailers. There’s very little to chose from within 500 miles. It’s almost like they don’t make the dual tandems anymore and if you find one with heavy specs, it’s over 30k!!!

I think the triple 7’s are gaining popularity because 3 7k axles are cheaper than 2) 10’s or 2) 12’s?

Stuff has gotten so expensive. Pretty sad.

Also if you have a blowout on a dual tandem you can just limp to the tire shop but if you have a blowout with triple singles you are going to be changing a tire before you go anywhere or else you’re going to ruin a rim

Thats not really an argument. How many srw cars, pickups, trucks, trailers, tractors....just put the spare on and continue.

Those square bales sure do make for a nice looking load.

Trailers blow a lot more tires than vehicles do.

His point, and I totally agree with, you blow a tire on the driver's side going down the Interstate with a single tire axle and you are gonna find yourself having traffic go by you at 70mph, 5 or 6 feet from you.

With a tandem you go to the next exit.

Still not an argument for duals. How many trailers are on the road under 20k, generally where singles move to duals. I have 6 trailers, all singles. I haven't changed a trailer tire on the road, in forever. I don't sweat the "what if game"....

2 fairly comparable trailers.

1. 21,000lb triple 7k Lamar with all 7ga steel. Would be equipped with load range G tires.

2. 22,000lb PJ (2) 10k torsion axles with 235/17.5 super singles. All 7GA steel.

The Lamar trailer in the picture is a representative photo. Theres a similar Lamar near me and the price is $18,500.

Im not super comfortable with either trailer, but I really cant find anything much heavier built without less than 3’ tall sides. No duallies with low sides, which is really what I want. Only Midsota seems to make them and they want 30 grand lol

Ordering is a 3 month wait and the prices are 25% higher on anything custom.

I think either one would make you a good trailer. I have the PJ like pictured. I also haul a lot of logs and the 3' sides are not an issue. My son loads me with an excavator and I use my Bobcat loader with forks. If you get a really large log and don't want to drop it, I load from the rear. Just set one end in the back and slide it in.

Are you completely happy with the PJ?
I hear of shortcomings (paint, some shortcuts on welds)
Thanks for sharing.
