Napoleon's most prized cutlery was a set of four made out of aluminum. Others got to eat with cutlery of platinum or gold.

The top of the Washington monument is a 100oz pyramid of aluminum, placed there in 1884.

Charles Martin Hall developed the electrolytic reduction technique that made aluminum cheap and plentiful in 1886. His company is better known as Alcoa these days.
Paul (Louis-Toussaint) Héroult also discovered a similar method of aluminum refining at the same time. Both men started working on the problem in their teens, both came up with the solution at the age of 22.
