Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 5:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 89F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
It's been blowing in the 10-20 MPH range all night, making noise and making sleep scarce. Just glad I don't have to put up with Ted's dust storms!

No progress on the driveway, as the backhoe guy had to go hunting for steel for another project. That left time for the dozer operator and I to clear the southeast corner of the lot, one of the steepest parts of the property. It has an intermittent stream that has carved a five foot deep channel, and to get to the other side, he dozed in dirt until he could get across. I watched his first trip, and the nose of the dozer was way over 45° up in the air! We ended up skidding dozens of trees up and out of there behind the dozer, me hooking up the chains right along side of him and then stacking them with the tractor. I got lots of trips walking up and down that hill!

Toward the end of the day, backhoe man shows up with his plates, just as we were about done with the clearing. Turns out the big metal supply house has recently changed hands, and the new owners have terminated retail sales. That's a huge loss for the community, and I hope one of the smaller outfits steps up. All of 'em I know have to special order even common shapes and sizes. I got a start drilling each of his four plates with 13/16" holes, through 3/4" of steel. Got three of 'em done before I knocked off for dinner, and will finish up this morning. While the auto feed kept the mill going, I puttered around the garage doing some clean up work on the bikes. Still more of that, along with checking air and oil on the one I'll be on tomorrow.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

45°F and light rain, going up to 64° today. Should clear up later. Cooling down a bit, and even some snow in the forecast for Friday. Back into the 60s on Sunday. Looking at the long-range forecast tells me we're going to have a wet Spring.

Got the garbage gathered and walked down to the road yesterday evening. Trash can was heavy this week with all the stuff The Wife sorted through from storage. Then, made some tasty spaghetti for dinner. Wife was working with some new embroidery program, and I didn't feel like getting into anything else, so I just went to bed early.

rain has stopped, lot more than predicted, 1.35 inches and rear lawn flooded enough mom and pop ducks came down and are happily paddling around.
got tires put on and had a full alignment done, which was good as three of the four wheels were out of range.

now a run to church after lunch to work on big tv there and then back for school board meeting at dinner time.

66°F and .01 inches rain. Still looking overcast and more rain likely today

RNG asked about next project. Definitely a list of candidates, although Sophie says nothing new. I have a number of maintenance related issues to pick from. My 1st choice is to finish my hydroponic greenhouse. The buggy on the list is painting, both the roof and the house. Also Sophie’s priority. I do have to finish taxes this next week and get filed.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

57F and cloudy @ 15:45, heading down to a low of 42F overnight. Calling for rain early this evening.

Hard time falling asleep last night, so I got up late today.

Slight change of plans yesterday: went out to mow and found out it was way too wet ... even up at the top of the front yard, where it drains better.

So we switched over to bulb planting ... got 100 grape hyacinth bulbs planted along the edge of the planting bed in the second circle where we had planted the coral bells. Had to take the Cub up and grab a dump cart load of composted soil to fill in some spots there and even up the edge of that bed.

While we were doing that The Woman observed that planting some bulbs around the peach trees out in the lawn would be nice ... so one of the peach trees was the next destination. She weeded around that while I headed up again and got another 1/2 dump cart of composted soil.

The tips of branches of the peach trees had gotten browsed on by the deer where they were outside of the wire cages but otherwise seemed to be doing well and were just starting to leaf out:

So they survived. Hopefully with a some good tending they will do well this year.

After she was finished with the weeding, I went ahead and added the screened composted soil and planted 61 grape hyacinth bulbs around the one peach tree, and tamped them in good with the tamper:

Later, once it dries up enough, I'll collect some rocks over around the pole barn and bring them over and create a border around the trees.

Have around 40 grape hyacinth bulbs left which probably isn't quite enough to do the other peach tree ... but we do have 60 white hyacinth bulbs ... so that's probably what we'll use instead. Probably use the remaining grape hyacinth along that border where the coral bells around planted.

Had one tire go flat on the dump cart so will have to fix that before it can be used again.

I did notice over the past week or so while I was out and about that there still seems to be a considerable amount of moss growing in the lawn ... so probably going to have to do another treatment of lime again this year, once I get it cored again.

Woman is presently out doing a little grocery shopping, not sure all will be on the agenda for the rest of the day. She said she did not hear back from the vet today ... so don't know what's up with that ... unless we just misunderstood about how fast they would have the results from the tests.

Hopper feeder looks like it needs refilled, so might head down here in a few and get that.

Hope everyone is having a great day ... (y)

I received an offer (in the mail) to buy my house...about $25K less then I paid for it and $110000 less than the appraised value. Of course, I trashed it since I'm pretty sure it was just a scam...
