What puts mud on trees?

Appears so but you could convince me otherwise as well, light angle is messing with me.

I think I see a cleft between the toes in the orientation I described. Light angle messed with me in the woods, too.

I originally saw the mud about a week before taking the pictures. It was wet at the time and looked like it might have been rubbed into the bark, a good indication that hogs did it. If I find hog hair in the mud or bark, I'll get back with the result. This will take a while, I had cateract surgery Wednesday and the doctor doesn't want me bending over for some time.

How about that! I had cataract surgery last Wednesday also! He also corrected some astigmatism. My eyesight was very blurred at first, but is slowly coming back.

Unfortinately, I'm under doctors orders to take it easy and haven't been out there. The other eye has already been done and isn't what I'd like it to be so, I really want this one to come out right. It'll try to check this week.

stuckmotor - hope your eye surgery improves daily. This is a very real concern for me. Blind in my right eye and eye Dr says I will eventually need surgery on my good left eye - astigmatism.

For God's sake - take it easy and let nature do its healing. My "interest" is minimal compared to your good eyesight. All the best.

I'm very fortunate in that I can get by on either eye, even the lesser one. With only one working you've got much more to be concerned about. I wish you the best with your recovery and that the good eye always be good.

Were you awake during your proceedure? I don't remember a thing about my first but on this eye, they attempted to give me only light sedation and I thought I saw some kind of tiny three or four legged table above my eye. The doctor thought I might have seen the bottom of her microscope though, I was probably hallucinating.

I am really pleased. It still is a bit fuzzy, but my distance vision has improved a lot. I'll still need reading glasses, and maybe for driving, but it's coming right along.

around here I have seen animals back into tree when they poop as a form of getting their senting and markings higher off the ground marking. If salty it might be poop not mud.

On one of my first dates with my future wife we went kite flying in the pasture. There, I dazzled her with my ability to avoid stepping in the cow pies. It doesn't take much to impress a city girl.
