Many of the old TV shows I would watch as a kid were shown late at night. During the summer I would stay up until 0200, when the TV channels went off the air. Hated when the TV showed the symbol and started that noise. :ROFLMAO:

I would sometimes watch Carson, The Tomorrow Show, and it seems like maybe there was another late night talk show...

Mostly, I would watch,
  • Hogans Heros
  • Phil Silver Show
  • Wild, Wild, West
  • Whats My Line(The B&W version)
  • You Bet Your Life(Groucho Marx)
  • Dave Allen(Irish Comedian)
  • The Honey Mooners
  • Dick Van Dyke Show
  • I Love Lucy
I know there were some other shows, and they are on the tip of my tongue...... 😁

Twilight Zone and Outer Limits I would see from time to time and I remember one episode scaring the heck out of me and a friend. :ROFLMAO:

Lately, we have been watching Barney Miller, though it seems to have been take off the rotation. It is another TV show that now provides History lessons as the talk about crime in NYC, budget crises in NYC, inflation, gas prices, Flu(And the controversy over shots), the Space Shuttle, etc.... The Carson Tonight Show is the same way history wise.

Back in the '70s, an employee's father was an engineer at WSJV. They were having problems with one of the circuit breakers on the transmitter tripping, at first just every few days, and eventually ever hour or so. The transmitter manufacturer, GE, I think, sent repairmen out to fix it. They worked on it for almost two days, checking everything, replaced quite a few expensive parts, checked voltages and current draws, no clue to what the problem was.
The station engineer had been checking in on them every couple of hours, but obviously they were out of ideas, so he asked the obvious question, "Anybody check the circuit breaker?" Face palms all around.

We didn't watch much TV when I was a kid and we never stayed up much past 9PM. We had to get up at dawn to milk cows and then on to other farm work. I remember one summer we finished lunch and my Dad had gone outside. Somebody turned the TV on and my Dad caught us watching TV instead of unloading the hay wagon as we were supposed to be doing. He pulled the power cord from the TV and we didn't watch TV for the rest of the summer.

  • He-Man
Evenings:

  • Hee Haw

When our kids were young we regulated what they should watch to some degree to allow them to go out play etc instead. At one point we took away the tv and they were still sitting on the couch looking at the wall where the tv used to be

Best I can do on translating the Morse code at the end of High Flight.
I slowed the audio down to 1/10 speed in Movie Maker, and looked for obvious pauses to separate the sets.

This is the best I could determine.

B - Dash, Dot, Dot, Dot (pause)
C - Dash, Dot, Dash, Dot (pause)
Unknown - Dot, Dot, Dash, Dash (pause)
T - Dash (pause)
A - Dot, Dash (pause)
T - Dash (end of signal)

There is a clear time separation between C and Unknown and Unknown and T. But Dot, Dot, Dash, Dash isn't valid. Unless you break it up into I and M, or E and W, or U and T. But there isn't enough of a time break to separate them.

Would have been pretty cool if there was an Easter Egg here.

Aviation Acronyms don't help much. BC is Back Course. IM is Inner Marker. Other combos of letters don't work out that I can tell.

Another person on another site came up with BCIMTAT. I just can't find the pause time to see two letters being sent with in the two long times between C and Unknown and T. With in Unknown, there are no long pauses. All the others are very clear separations. Unknown is one unit between the two others. The internal cadence, of the letter and the outside cadence of the pause, is clearly set in time, when hearing this at 1/10 th. speed.

There is good reason to think something is here, cause it makes no sense to have added it to the end unless it said something..

And another....
Saw a SNL reference.
I'm in Richmond, and in the first year of SNL, the local guys at the station were watching the Playboy channel while the local news was on. Came time to switch back to the satellite for SNL, and suddenly titties on broadcast TV for about 15 seconds. We heard they got fined.
