Well not being properly frugal An extra staple? If I were fencing miles of land, it'd matter I guess.
This is how I'm terminating line.

As wood ages, staples loosen up. I have them pull out lots over the years. I always twist wires. Have for 50 years.

Id bend back the tag end and spend the money on another staple in between the other two.

I used a similar style for UNSTRAINED tie offs when I was farming.

Depends on how frisky the bulls are.

I always go completely around the post and twist the wire onto itself top,middle and bottom.
I do the same, had to many fence get saggy from staples only.

On another note I have spent a mint on trying to keep buttercups killed out, they are toxic to horses and all the fields around me are FULL of them. Never ending battle.
