I know right? My neighbor makes a lot of cash selling drugs so why should I punish myself and miss out on that kind of profit when he isn't? I'm not going to do the right thing until everyone else does the right thing first.
Does being obtuse come natural?

Perhaps you should lead by example and get rid of all your ICE vehicles so we can breath easier.

Or..... scrap any of your firearms so I will feel safer.

btw, how's that EV tractor working out for you?

Would I buy an EV today? Absolutely. The real question is can you, and with demand crushing supply you'd be lucky to get one in 2-3 years even if you put a deposit down today. With gas prices averaging almost $5 a gallon the demand will only grow. Just wait till it's $10.

If you're all wound up in fear that someone is going to force you to buy an EV you can probably rest easy knowing that the people who are actively wanting to buy an EV will likely soak up every EV made in the next 20 years. There will be no extras laying around to force upon those wanting to cling to their petroleum powered vehicles that cost 2 bills just to gas up. And before you start fretting about our poor grid, know that I'll be going with rooftop solar and powerwalls so I'll not only be powering that EV for free, I'll be feeding you guys a bit of extra juice at the same time and eliminating my current load on the grid entirely. You're welcome.

See above - I'm working on it but it may be another year or two before I get there. I'm not getting rid of any of my guns though even if it will make you feel safer. I probably shoot at least once a week, either for fun or out of necessity, so until the socialists come and take them from my charred corpse I'll be hanging on to them. I've even been trying to buy another new shotgun I've had my eye on for a while, I just can't find it anywhere.

someone's ego got hit right in the sweet spot.
Sorry, I didn't intend to hit anyone's ego - no reason to take any of this personally. I've been planning to go EV for a while, not because I'm a tree hugger but because it makes economic sense. That and I don't want to be under the thumb of our local electric bureaucracy. If anyone wants to hang on to their gas burners that's fine with me. More EVs for everyone else ;)

It case it wasn't obvious...your defensive posture was the ego that got hit.

I have the kind of set up you are talking about:
7.5kw solar array; Mitsubishi Outlander AWD Plug-in Electric Hybrid. It is a great combination.
This array produces 9100 KWH per year and fully supplies our electrical requirements.
We have no 'power wall' or battery yet but that will happen one day.

(And responding to those that want to go forward in time while looking only in the rear view mirror,
well, that kind of contest will only get you both wet.)

regards,
R

You left out the cost.

The costs are variable: self-installed, contractor; local requirements, local utilities
Your milage may vary from mine.
The costs of solar have stayed nearly level from my install.
The Outlander is a 2021.
The cost of cars has gone ape****crazy.
My yearly electric bill is now gone.
