Good morning!!!!

The ride back from Richmond worked out well, we avoided all the weather and had a smooth ride.
When I got home home, I saw that UPS had left me an 80lb trinket.
A 9” auger with rock teeth to go through the shale that we have everywhere.

It it works as well as it’s 6” sibling, I will be very happy.
I did not know they made them with rock teeth. I remember fighting with that shale many times! I don't miss it one bit! (No pun intended). What did that cost vs a regular bit?

72F and clear @ 23:00, HI 73F. Headed down to an overnight low of ... 73F ??? ... lol ...

High today hit 88.2F ... it was pretty rude with the humidity.

Nonetheless we were out in it pretty much all day long ... but taking it easy. That probably ain't gonna happen tomorrow ...

Got all the squash and pumpkin plants in pots moved out of the garage with the assistance of my intrepid helper. She brought them out to me and I arranged and watered. Still don't have a count on the individual types, but they are well enough organized that it should be easy to do.

After we finished that She alternated between working on planting Her flowers She picked up the other day and sitting in the shade in the garage and researching various plant stuff.

I repotted the 6 largest bell pepper plants and a similar number of tomato plants, topped off the soil in all the pots. For the ones I repotted I added some vermiculite to the soil so hopefully they'll retain water a little better:

IMG_1767 copy.jpg

Total of 14 tomato, 10 bell pepper, and 5 eggplant. Guessing that they are all probably good for another week or two in the containers they are in if they kept watered. The eggplant are still pretty small, hoping the hotter weather will get them to pop.

Then I started working on combining the soil from the pots where there was no germination of seeds back into the tote which still had some soil left in it.

Once I had that done I started planting more pumpkin seeds and got another 17 pumpkin seeds of various types planted. At that point I ran out of potting mix and it was getting dark anyways.

Got all of the Casper and Big Max pumpkin seeds planted, have another 2 Kentucky Field, 4 Mammoth Golds, and 14 Small Sugar pumpkin seeds still left to plant.

Still have more seeds for a two types of winter squash as well: 19 more Waltham Butternut and more 6 Buttercup.

Plus summer squash as well: 17 Yellow Crookneck, 4 Zucchini - since these have a much shorter time to maturity I'll hold off on starting any more for a few weeks.

Think I'm going to go plant some more cucumber seeds since only two of those survived.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Productive day! The decision was made to put 2 raised beds out in the courtyard. So out to the shop I went..... not too bad in the shade, fan moved enough air to keep things cool. That and our high temp only hit 91°.

I was able to get the lumber cut for both boxes, but only got to assemble one.
I would have had enough metal for making the initial design for the strawberries, but these two are square 4'x4'. I need 1 more sheet so I'll pick that up tomorrow. Need to run some errands, so I'll just add another stop to the combined trip.

The weather guessers are predicting the start of the monsoon season on Friday. Temps are going to be in the mid to upper 80's through next week! Woohoo! No guarantee that we'll get rain, but I'll take those temps for sure!

Crazy weather across the nation! Fires, tornadoes, flooding, heat waves....
The flooding up in Yellowstone is sad. I wonder how long the park will be closed. Roads, bridges, and houses washed away. Rock slides throughout the park. Apparently the river is 14ft above flood stage.

Scaredy It is your life.
I'm good with that :) I would be replacing any other cell phone, every week, for the amount of times that I wipe out or need to catch myself

You guys make me look lazy today ... and I'm good with that too :)

Question - Does anyone know of any basic knee brace that straps on, and does not require being slipped over your foot first? I am using tensor bandages, but need to find something better. I struggle with socks, so the slip over ones won't be any easier.

I need to find the Flat Black spray paint that is somewhere in the garage, near the work bench. Access being the issue presently. I'll have a look tomorrow.

80° for a low this morning, forecast to go to 96° today . . . . and then the forecast is for 99° to 100° every day for at least the next week. Power outages and water main outages (line breaks) making the news. Sure hope this heat wave doesn't last too long.

Good morning.
It’s 59 and going past 80 today under clear skies.

I won’t be here for most of the day today, it’s back to Marsh Harbor for my 45 minutes in the Bahamas today. It looks like weather will be pretty good today, thunderstorms are to the east of our route. We leave land around Wilmington, NC and the next land we see will be Treasure Key. Hopefully I’ll get back in time to be productive around here, but when I get an early start, I usually end up under the covers pretty early. Got nothing done when I got home yesterday.

Haven’t heard from the doctor about my blood work, so it must not have been too awful.

I have a fun conch fritter story.
My wife and I were coming into West End Bahamas, when they were just starting to build the fancy resort they have now.
But back then, around year 2000, it was still a sleepy little marina where you checked in at Customs.
I got the Bertram docked, somewhat worried about depth, saw a lot of sand being kicked up. Worrisome when your engines and a/c units are gulping
in cooling water constantly.

No restaurants, just a little shack on the beach close to the walkway to Customs.
Three coolers and a barbecue grill.
And a true mountain of empty conch shells, gleaming white, baked in the sun.

I was hungry, as usual, and went to check it out.
hey mon.
Two conch fritters please.
He takes the conch meat out of the cooler, puts it on a big piece of wood and starts wailing on it with a
small wooden club. After he flattened it a bit, into the bowl of bread crumbs or whatever it was, and then onto the
grill. Couple of minutes later, on a hamburger bun with a nice slice of tomato on it, that conch
fritter was one of the best things I've eaten. Tender and not rubbery at all. We almost ordered a couple more to go.
