Water in fuel causes $10,000 damage to my Kubota Grand L6060

I added a Racor to my Kubota BX when I owned it. A big improvement since it came with two of those tiny ones. It didn’t have any kind of sensor though.

Did you ever find water in it??

No I never did find water in it. I added it because I had the little filters gel up on me a couple of times. I had the Racor gel up on me once also and I was using an additive also. I started adding kerosene and that seemed to have stopped it on the Kubota and I’ve never had my current JD gel up.

I stopped using bulk storage tanks for fuel storage and instead mounted smaller tanks on my trucks. Although it’s a PITA to run for fuel 50-100 gallons at a time, it’s one less large tank to worry about. We have fuel stops for dyed fuel pretty close by, so not too bad.
I’m a believer in buying fresh fuel 50-100 gallons at a time from a truck stop that sells a lot of fuel, using it quickly and filtering it before it goes in the tractor. Long term storage in older tanks partially full and with lord knows what junk in them, is where the devil shows up.
We “field fuel” our tractors anyway, so a large tank is pretty useless for me.

Look to install a water separator on your 100 gallon nurse tank. I suggest something like a Parker/Racor HF900 (that is totally on sale right now) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXVPN1...olid=1TQYWLHM5ELRM&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I’ve been looking at the Racor water separators. The one you reference here shows a flow rate of 90 gallons per hour which would be about 1.5 gallons per minute which is really slow for fueling tractors.
I do have a Goldenrod filter on my nurse tank and put a “water block” cartridge filter in it.
I also purchased a “Mr Funnel” which has a water filter, but it is a bit awkward to use.
I will monitor the water separator on the tractor a lot closer from now on.

I think that's offshore copy of Racor since nowhere does it say it is a Racor unit?

Pretty cheap thought.

Buyer be aware - it may or may not be OK, only time will tell.

Most likely as Racor's patents ran out years ago. The Racor HF900 in my 1979 Hough payloader looks identical to what I linked to.

Like the title says, water in fuel caused me a $10,000 repair bill to my 2017 Grand L6060 with about 1200 hours on it. The water caused rust in the fuel rail which caused damage to the injectors. I have had fuel problems with this tractor since its new.

I have a 100 gal. nurse tank that I use to fuel my tractors. I assume that condensation is happening in this tank. I do add a fuel 'cleaner' to each 100 gallons I put in the nurse tank. I guess this is mostly my fault, because I don't monitor the water separator on the tractor closely enough. I will check it more often now after this.
Do you have a water filter on the nurse tank pump?

I have a Goldenrod filter but it was not a “water block” filter. It is now.

I use a goldenrod water block spin on canister filter on my transfer tank. They definitely lock up when pumping water contaminated fuel.

I need to double check mine, didnt know there was a block version. Just getting ready to fill it.
