I always thought it would be a wonderful adventure to work on a custom harvest crew for a season or two as a young man. A season or two on a Great Lakes ore boat would also be cool. I'm an old man now so that dream is gone and I work in a pill mill.

Any time I jam "wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" I think exactly the same thing!

Very true and my thoughts as well.
Somehow I don’t think if I posed in front of a 20 year old Case-IH it would get as many hits as cutsie-pie Laura does.

The new way to get hits is to put someone sexy in the seat and have her make it look easy.
Bale hay while she puts make-up on in her $250,000 Deere with a lighted sun visor.

I went back to the farm last month and found out my L5030 was losing water and overheating. Course dad didn’t tell me, he just put stop leak in the radiator and added more water. Turns out the water pump seal was leaking, but the damage was done to the tune of a new water pump, radiator, head and various hoses.
It’s all fixed and running again, he’s been bush hogging 3-4 hrs a day.

One of the jobs we had as teens was detasseling corn. This is a part of the seed corn business, too. Short kids need not apply.

We have a few retirement communities around us. One time I struck up a conversation with an older guy at a local watering hole and he asked me if he could work for me for free. He had always dreamed of running farm machinery and with most of his life behind him, I guess he was getting desperate.
My wife’s friend is a bit older than us and her husband is a very wealthy retired lawyer. He calls himself a “recovering attorney” lol Says he will work for me for free anytime. Dreams of running farm machinery lol

As I have aged,,,, and mechanical technology has advanced,,,, I find myself asking the boys about a problem before administering my "old school" fix....
