Roy, you've been up all night, third shift audit means you have to physically be there? I'd get cameras...

I worked third shift for three years during college summers. Union Camp multiwall bag factory. Think bags that cement comes in. Hard factory job at end of production line.
guys there kept egging me on to get degree so I wouldn't have to come back...
QC also on third shift, had to be, if glue line got off on bags, bottoms would blow out of bag while filling, customer goes nuts as it shuts down their line.

With our QC guys here, I just have to chuckle. QC was the station next to mine, up the long rollerway where all the bags came down.
I'd hear her swearing and squawking and she had a red button or something she would push that lit up somewhere on the last machine, called a bottomer, since it put the bottoms
on multiwall bags, and the operator would have to stop the production line.
QC person not usually favorite among staff. Unfortunately. QC preserves reputation of company long term. Probably the most important job in the place.
Which Roy you should tell your boss at next annual review...

if my telling these stories is getting too much, send me a PM and tell me to be quiet. I won't be offended.
Nah...we were going to hit the tail end of 3rd, so I was here at 0500. Registrar was supposed to be here at 0530.
It's 0619 as I type this and 3rd will be packing up to knock off at 0700. Reckon they get a free ride this time. 1st and 2nd production did quite well, so I guess the registrar decided it wasn't necessary to hit on 3rd.

As far as your stories, keep 'em coming!!

You've had a long and interesting life, Drew. Thanks for sharing it with us.

So did Randy. I'll miss him.

Speaking of spark plugs, Scaredy, a box with two dozen of them arrived from Jolly Ol' England day before yesterday. For some unfathomable reason, NGK has decided that the US of A doesn't need non-resistor plugs anymore, so has discontinued them here. The old motorcycles I prefer still use them, though, and when I found them online for only a dollar eighty three each, I stocked up to save on shipping, which cost almost as much as the merchandise. But with gougers getting five bux and more per plug, I still came out ahead. Supply and demand, simple economics. Too bad more people at the highest level don't understand that.

Good story about the Grizzly Man, too. Could very well still be suffering lots of pain from his injuries, making him less than civil at times. Who knows, after living through something like that?

Halloween is still two months off, but I'm already seeing the decorations in the stores. And ads for pumpkin this and pumpkin that. Can't they at least wait for Labor Day? I still remember the good ol' days when there was never a mention of Santa Clause until the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now it seems like some stores leave the Christmas stuff on the shelves all year!

Clever sharpening fixture, Frits. Make it yourself?

landPlaneLift.jpg

No problems lifting the land plane out of the trailer yesterday, thank goodness. And not a scratch on it, that I put there at least, thanks to a pair of nylon slings I found on Amazon last year. Rated at some rediculous number like 80,000 lbs. each. 😲 Now they guy that went nuts with the nailer on the pallet blocking holding it in place, getting all those nails out of the wood so it could be upcycled? Sheesh, drywall screws would have done a much better job, and been a heck of a lot easier to get back out. Which the 'plane almost did, as it was crooked on the pallet with rub marks in the paint all over.

After all that I couldn't just put it away, so mounted it up on the tractor and took it for a spin up and down the driveway. Made two passes, each up and back, three or four across in some places, and yes, it did a nice job of leveling out the ruts and holes. And bringing up a whole bunch of gravel I didn't even know was there. And a bunch of larger rocks, too. So I'll go out rock pickin' this morning, not nearly as much fun as land planin'..

Finished up the day with another round of margarita and cool shower on the back porch. Had to, 'cause I looked like a brown Pilsbury Dough Boy from all the driveway dust. Was reviewing the video from the new cam up at the gate when I spotted this:
I know there are bears in the neighborhood, but I'd never even seen evidence of one. Lots of folks complain about them scattering their garbage around, and hope this one doesn't decide to stay.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Your story reminds me of when I was working as a mechanic at a truck/farm equipment/blacksmith shop I had an accident where I would not be able to work for a long time. So I went on to get an engineering degree. You might say a degree by "accident"

Morning all, going up to 84 so not as hot as it's been.
Worked on the backup simplicity yesterday and it does seem the tranny is shot.
Time to get it to someone who might want it I guess. Can't think it's worth much now.

Here it is getting a lift back to the garage so I can air up the tires.

Anyone want it?

Replaced the head gasket a few years back and engine runs pretty smooth.

really disappointed Ken's deer made it up to my back yard. I think he scared them up here driving around with that
blue thing on front....

took my good camera out and finally got a decent long distance picture.
Need to figure out how to do this with bird feeder. Not having a rear door on this cottage is frustrating.

RedNeck, the sharpening fixture is an American made product that I bought online. Also got a balancing fixture that centers the blade and makes it easy to get perfect balanced blades

Good Morning.
68 going to 80 today, another sunny day, but it will be comfortable outside, not blisteringly hot.

Yesterday was a nice slow day, both breakfast and lunch were spent out socializing. Picked up a bit in the shop, worked on a manual for the TSA.

Here’s a rerun of my mailbox project-

I’m guessing it will be there long after I’m gone.

Deer are not uncommon here either-

The herds are common in the late afternoon, early evening.

Today I’ll get to test the modifications to the carryall when I take the trash and recycling toters to the street, I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve got some errands to run this morning, a meeting with a solar contractor about putting solar arrays at some of our county airports. Because we are a government entity and don’t pay taxes, it might not make financial sense without any tax benefit, but I’ll see what they have to say.
