How can a rifle smell like cigarettes?

Is it too soon to hijack my own thread? It always amazes me how much better an animal's nose is than ours. When I find a tough place to get around, whether it's blowdowns or rocky cliffs; I often will let my dog find the best path through or around. It took me a while to figure out how he knew, but I'm sure that he just follows the scent of those who went before him.

Years ago I woke up one morning to several inches of fresh snow. When I went out to my truck I saw that someone's dog had turned his leg up on my tire. I drove about 7 miles to a woods road, then a few miles further. When I came out at the end of the day I found that nobody else had traveled it. On the way out I saw where a coyote had walked down the road and placed his mark every time that spot in the tire had hit the road.

Has anyone noticed most cities now reek of marijuana smoke? It always smelled like a roadkilled skunk to me. I don't live in a city anymore, but occasionally I work in one.

No. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Move to what? There is a huge grow operation west of here and when the wind is right, it flat stinks.

It's so strange that every year there are more non smoking laws and more types of cigarettes getting banned and at the same time more states legalizing marijuana. How many years will it be before cigarettes are completely banned and grass is legal everywhere? Then how many more years before lawmakers realize the mistake they made?

How many years will it be before cigarettes are completely banned and grass is legal everywhere? Then how many more years before lawmakers realize the mistake they made?

As much as I dislike cigarettes, I disagree with many of the laws which have been passed. If a store owner chooses to cater to smokers in his privately owned store which he worked to build; that is no business of the government. I can choose to go elsewhere and have done so in the past; that's known as a free market system.
I smoked pot through HS and college but gave it up when I got my first job; 40 years ago, getting caught still was a lot of trouble.
I don't see the difference between smoking a joint and taking a shot of whiskey. Yet you don't see a guy lighting up, then going home and beating his wife up.

Follow the money! With cigarettes, it was a boost in tax income until people got older and started having complications from the effects of them. The marijuana is at the beginning stages of being legalized, so is a boost in tax income, but has not had the drawback of the medical expenses that can be pointed directly at it.

I dunno man, a POS is a POS, regardless of whether he lights up a doobie or not. I smoked lots of pot over the yrs with lots of different people, some of then definitely NOT hippie types.

Weed is the yuppie choice of smoking something. Interestingly, here in Michigan, where it's legal, there is an over abundance of retail outlets as well as grow operations and now they are all finding out they have reached and surpassed the saturation point and the bigger operations are starting to eat the smaller ones. Here, pot shops are almost as common as gasoline stations and you can only cut the pie slices so thin and then no one makes any jack and that is what is occurring here, plus the ongoing 'war' on cost. All the pot shops are reducing prices on product in order to compete with other pot shops so it's become a total buyer's market and their profit margin has went down the toilet.
