Some pine I brought in this past summer. Very little fire wood, they sold as is, so I was fortunate this year. Some years you can't sell the log, so I end up with a lot of firewood.

I do sort out the 12" tip and above for saw logs. We bring in a portable mill every few years and cut them up. The value is down for commercial use because my dump is 16' so logs are 15'6".

Can you take the rear doors off the trailer? They can stick out then to get those up to 16'

I could, but logs are only once in a while, while dump trailer material is often. Once in a great while, I will use my flatbed with log bunks for high quality logs. Most of my customers are homeowners with nothing to unload with so the dump works better. This load I had presold so they were long logs and he had a loader to off load.

Anything over the length of my dump trailer. I was a commercial logger for 25 years, so I know what a long log is. Now I am a hobby logger...

It looks like it does the job very well. Having never run, or even seen for that matter, an electric chainsaw I'm curious about what the advantages are for you the way you use it over a gas saw ?? Thanks.

It was a decent day again today, cloudy but not real cold. Anyway, I decided to mill another cherry that some folks told me that I should send it to the firewood pile,

It looked to me like that it would at least be a decent log to mill and so I got started by taking the slabs off and making some cuts,

and here's what much of the lumber looked like,

What do you think about them? Anyway, the pile is growing, and I'll soon be done!

Well, I milled the last of the cherry firewood logs today, and I decided to "live edge" this one, as I just couldn't bring myself to saw out the "sweep" in this log,

Man, there's nice wood right there!
