And who would take a sh&@? I’d rather give one.
I don't know, I took a bucketload of sh&@
from where the chickens were this summer up into the garden.

One comment I often hear toward the end of winter is "The fog is eating the snow." It always bugged me, as I thought fog was merely the snow melting.

It turns out that I was wrong, and fog actually does cause the snow to melt.

Not really a "saying", but it always bugs me when the cell phone ads talk about "lines". It's wireless, there are no lines.

My brother's CO called him on the carpet for saying someone was going off "half-cocked". She apparently did not know what it meant.

Getting back to butchered phrases, it drives me nuts when people saw "walla" when it's "voila".

I think much of this is because people read and write much less, so everything is based on what they think they are hearing, with no way to cross check or verify.

Also, bad grammar is now good grammar.

"My wife and me went shopping", instead of "my wife and I went shopping".

"It was a nice day our for my wife and I", instead of "it was a nice day out for my wife and me".

"Him and I had a good time", instead of "he and I had a good time".

On the subject of sayings, or statements that bug me, the most common is when a criminal is caught in the act, in view of multiple witnesses including LEOs or clearly on video, and he is referred to as a "suspect".
