My Industrial Cabin Build

First time i ever built painted cabinets, but thats what the DW wanted. I have tried many different corner cabinets and found this design at a kitchen store. Man, what a challenge it was figuring out all the angles. Really like the way they turned out. You will always have wasted space. Just never liked having to open a door first to get to things.
Is that those Rev-A-Shelf corner slides, or something else? I have seen a couple trick corner cabinet hardware setups, but they are all a compromise. We had a lazy susan in our last house corner, which was Ok, but god help you if something fell off back in there and jammed it up... The best I could do was make the 2 corners 45 degree here, so less of an issue. I also have scads of cabinets, frankly, so I wasn't too worried about the space loss in those corners. The island is more of a "no wasted space design" as I made cabinets on the back side in a couple spots to use space that was other wise blocked to the inside.

Corner shelves are always difficult. I have to modify mine to fit properly around a beam snd also because water and electric come thru the base of it. I will wait till I have it installed to decide how to address some sort of pull out.

No...just the normal 'Grass' self closing slides. I basically made a box with just 2 sides. a back and a bottom and inserted it in the space allowed.

Maybe get some cardboard and make a mockup cabinet to see what you need to get a good fit.

I believe I mentioned ,before, that painting isn’t my favorite thing. For those of you, who make your livings on scaffold or ladders, you have my full respect. After 5 days, I am broken. I have 3 sections of the main room completed. 2 to go, plus the hallway. Bedrooms will be a challenge as well but nothing compared to the main room. Taping, of all things, is an absolute chore.
We have been using Behr multi surface acrylic primer. It goes on thick and does a very good job. Jeffanna seldom puts enough paint on her roller and tends to try to stretch it out too far so when we look the next day she always has spots that are see thru. Not really an issue so long as all the surface was coated. We have been using Behr Marquee satin paint and it coats very well over the primer. My favorite thing is the lack of smell issues. From years back I remember a sickly sweet smell from latex paint that always had me queasy by the end of the day and I haven’t noticed that at all, this time.

We always spent the extra coin for the more premium "ultra low VOC" lines of paint, typically Sherwin. Especially important when painting in the wintertime with the house closed up. But it seems nowadays that anything above bargain level paints is pretty low VOC.

I would still highly recommend a respirator with carbon Organic Vapor (OV) cartridges for any extensive interior painting. And with paint spray pre-filters if you are spraying (not critical for brushing/rolling). Unless you have it well ventilated, but even then, you are pretty much marinating in the off-gassing by products. Ventilation is still key, but can be hard in the cold weather. Fortunately you guys are not that cold there. The respirator will make your lungs and the rest of you happier (no headaches from the smell)

WCD, I recall seeing you using what looked like Great Stuff Pro? I was at the store and the adhesive (yellow can) is ok in cold temps but noticed the window (blue) and (red) cans said application temp above 50-60?

Would never have thought wildlife place would carry spray foam.
