Time to unwatch this thread. I think what needed to be said was said.
Twice.

If the L4701 is almost $40k, I bought a MX6000 exactly a year ago for $38k, and it has telescoping lift arms and links and several other better features, not to mention a stronger loader and better stability. That would be a far better option than the L4701 if they are priced the same. Dealer facilities and services are a big consideration in buying.
I was looking at the MX5400 a while back, but stopped for some reason. I will have to go back and check my spreadsheet for those notes. If the features are as you say, Kubota prices that less than the 4701. Still over $10k more than the T494. I have no problem giving the dealership a chance to get closer. The budget is a pretty fixed number. I could not squeeze out more tractor at a higher price point, even if the value was there. See earlier note on Mrs. T.

I never understood why some people who can’t afford a Deere constantly have to try and justify that whatever brand they have to settle for is not so bad, or it’s just as good as a Deere. @Torvy, I don’t think even owns a tractor but he already has a complex over not being able to get a Deere. And stop blaming it on your wife not letting you.

Just buy whatever you want and can afford and be happy with it. Brag on it, post what you do with it. It’s ok if you can’t get a Deere just don’t keep trying to convince yourself (and us) that the only reason is that you get the same or better for 50% less. We know better and you do too.

FYI, I had a very competitive bid on a MX5400 last year from the Dealer in Amarillo. I recommend looking at that model and comparing to other brands. I’m impressed with the stability and features of this basic tractor and how much more robust it is compared to the L series. And the price point is surprising. But yes, the remotes are extra options, not standard. You have a lot of brand choices in your area and probably more competition between dealers within brands. A fun opportunity to shop lots of brands.

The way JD is treating dealers and right to repair, I'd be embarrassed to be seen on one...

Hahaha.....you are hilarious. I grew up in a family that that owned an IH dealership. My uncle owned another one. I know exactly how full of it JD is. I would get the Kubota for similar money because the dealer is in my nearest town and I like to buy local. Plus, I could make it up in gas savings. 10k+ buys a lot of gas, even at the prices we are about to return to. I gave JD a chance because they are the next closest, but they confirmed who they always have been. If I had unlimited money, I would more likely get a Yanmar.

As for my wife a) she is a formidable woman and sets the budget. She doesn't care what brand I buy. For 30K. JD can only build a glorified lawn tractor...correction, someone would build it for them and paint it green b) Most men in Texas know better than to cross their wife. Smh

To be clear, JD makes all their own tractors from the 1 series and larger. The smaller stuff uses Yanmar engines. As far as their mowers go, I don’t know where they are made. That’s another two statements I’m tired of hearing. Someone else makes JD tractors and they paint them green and smaller tractors are just glorified lawn mowers. I live on 3 acres, what I own is plenty of tractor.

Dad recently got a 2320 deer, real similar to your 2025.

Perfect size for someone that has around 5 acres. Light foot print, can mow the grass, till the garden, mulch the beds, and maintain a driveway.

I only have 8-1/2 acres. If it wasnt for my mowing and light excavation business, I wouldnt need a bota MX. I have to carefully choose when to get on the yard with it to mulch some trees, or carry the paddle boat from the pond to the shop for the winter. And its a overkill to plow my 30x100 paved drive.

Often times the 2320 sized machine would be more handy for chores around the house and doing garden work like tilling or digging potatoes without such a heavy tractor compacting the soil.

This is turning into a JD bashing thread with Kubota not far behind.

JD costs more because they have invested billions into a network of stores & services as common as Home Depot. That provides “same day” sales, parts and services the lesser know brands don’t have.
That’s worth something to a lot of their customers and they charge more for the “privilege“.
I also believe they have larger R&D departments and more engineers designing the next big thing than the smaller manufacturers.
