I’ve seen the aluminum vs cast iron and the sheet metal vs plastic arguments beaten to death also. If done correctly they can all be quality.
Yup.

While I'd prefer iron for a tractor, I see nothing wrong with aluminum. And its not like we see a rash of busted rears on these aluminum tractors....at least not any more so than iron.

Heck, transmissions and transfer cases and engine blocks have been made of aluminum for decades. And it does dissipate heat better so there's that.

And plastic.....dont dent and dont rust. While my tractor has metal fenders and hood, I would have no issues if they were plastic either. Heck my beater with a heater is a plastic car (saturn)...lol.

Well,,,,, let's see,,,,, you who doesn't care about used prices just quoted a used price you received for a tractor you sold. Even commenting how you got a pretty good price for a twenty yr old tractor. So it matters. I wonder what the sell price factor would have been on a grey market tractor?
I doubt there are very many tractor buyers including myself that thought about how much their tractor was going to be worth in 5 yrs when they purchased it, More than likely they were thinking if they bought enough tractor , Yea it was nice to get a good price for my tractor but that was never part of the buying equation.

It was about 4th or 5th on my list. And I have no intention of selling. But life has a way of changing those plans. :)

You are sure right about that.

Having not read the entire thread, how are you going to know who those are???
Yes, I was out of line with my comments. I have to leave the bottle alone... fell off the wagon over the weekend. Causes one to post stupid things.

Mostly agree…
Although I can’t stand aluminum pumps, or anything with a shaft spinning in an aluminum housing. Wears out faster. Replaced too many pumps with aluminum housings. Prefer cast.

I always give you the benefit of the doubt though because you know what truck to drive and what saw to buy and you cut fields. (y)🍺

Hahaha.....you are hilarious. I grew up in a family that that owned an IH dealership. My uncle owned another one. I know exactly how full of it JD is. I would get the Kubota for similar money because the dealer is in my nearest town and I like to buy local. Plus, I could make it up in gas savings. 10k+ buys a lot of gas, even at the prices we are about to return to. I gave JD a chance because they are the next closest, but they confirmed who they always have been. If I had unlimited money, I would more likely get a Yanmar.

As for my wife a) she is a formidable woman and sets the budget. She doesn't care what brand I buy. For 30K. JD can only build a glorified lawn tractor...correction, someone would build it for them and paint it green b) Most men in Texas know better than to cross their wife. Smh
I don't know buddy, you act like you have a real sore spot about JD, almost like a JD dealer stole your girl once, or twice.

To be clear, JD makes all their own tractors from the 1 series and larger. The smaller stuff uses Yanmar engines. As far as their mowers go, I don’t know where they are made. That’s another two statements I’m tired of hearing. Someone else makes JD tractors and they paint them green and smaller tractors are just glorified lawn mowers. I live on 3 acres, what I own is plenty of tractor.

Lawn garden tractors are made in Horicon, WI
