looks like we are all getting prepared for some intense weather
1.32 inches of rain, 54 degrees, surprisingly warm and for sure high of the day, dropping to 10 degrees tonight. Brrrr.
Might get some light snow out of tail end of system, with 40mph wind gusts.

Looks like an early morning for many of us. Wind knocking the screen door back and forth woke me up...I should have hooked it.

43 but dropping to 6 and gusts during the day of 40, so lowest wind chill I've seen says -7F. A little snow may show up with the cold front.

Birds went through the regular amount of seeds in the first half of the day, so fed them a second time yesterday during the rain, then took a little hike to find the creek flowing over the bridge and the ground very water logged.

Woodstove is hungry, so off I go.

Good evening! 7pm. 17˚F wind chill 8˚.

Whipper's evening walk temp was a windy 19˚ - short walk.

Went by the garden but all the kale was crunchy frozen. On the way out the push button gate-unlock would not work - frozen - felt trapped. 8' deer fence all around. I went to golf cart gate, it has a tumbler combination that was still moving and my almost frozen hands could barely get the right combination, but I got it unlocked and escaped. I call the President and told him and he will send out an e-mail to all about the exit button not working in the cold before someone gets trapped and frozen.

That's pretty scary in weather like that. I'd prop the door open next time.

49° now, probably the high for the day. Wind ESE 20-25 mph, gusts 50+ mph. Rain 1.75” since last night. Still have power so far! Should be interesting this evening when temps drop to low teens, hope the winds will dry things up a bit when the rain stops.

Not much been going on just some small projects around the house and yard. Will be a quiet Christmas at home, definitely not a white one.

by the time I go out to retrieve those trash cans, bet it will be a lot colder

Was 38 at 5:00 now 30 and falling fast very gusty winds power flickered several times. The two closest power dams are going to be making more power than normal so two to six foot elevation changes down stream. Sounds like a freight train outside

Good morning, the low temp is 27 and the high for the day should be about 32°F. Wind E 24 gusting to 37 mph. Snow at times heavy, so far none.Was supposed to get 4" last night...Got none. According to wunderground we are supposed to be receiving 12" right now, but according to environment Canada it hasn't got here yet. It is still over the great lakes loading up. So we could get anywhere from nothing to 12". I am ready, I just gotta plug in the block heater for a few hours before I go out and plow. Gotta 'pam' the plow, too. Fluid film is the best, but at $16.oo/can it will stay on the shelf. Pam is only $5.oo/can.

I'm going back to bed, I'll check in later.

No-name house brand cooking spray in Walmart is $3.37 a can. . .

plus our inflatable Nativity slid partially off the platform, and the foam blocks I put under the fans are Gone With The Wind, so the north side of the house vibrated like someone was drilling into the wall until I went out and pulled the plug. . .

reminds me to go check the strings on my Santa inflatable out front.
It's in the lee of the house, tied to railings on both sides, so fairly secure.
And if it does a Mary Poppins.... well that will be another story.
I suppose I could just turn it off...but that's no fun.

probably engineered for 30 hour life...

the white stuff is ice, not really snow. You can see how the fans are off the edge, I will address that later after breakfast.

Some customers want to close their projects by end of the year, I had to do some last minute offer / project stuff. Usual sheeeet
Yesterday got my new gates installed. German (*nal) engineering - complex installation, but nice operation.
Gathered all presents I has planned, so peace of mind


Our forecast guy has mentioned rather dramatic situation in CA & US. And they mentioned anything out of our country, when there situation is really intense. Checked figures, it's not a joke, even by our standards.

Good morning! 12˚F (just like Ron) but our temp is going up to the mid 20s and hopefully by noon tomorrow we will be above freezing for a few hours. We had 2 flakes of snow! Yes, you read that right, flakes not feet. Everyone has power in our town and the grid is holding for the state. Good thing because I forgot to buy a lighter or matches to light the stovetop.

Only outside today is Whippers walk and taking the garbage out. Heard a bang last night, the neighbors trash can blew over in the 30 mph winds. She always puts her garbage out the day before so she does not have to wake up early. She was running around trying to catch trash as it was blowing down the street. She then just set them up instead of putting them next to her house and I see they are laying on their sides again. Trash has blown down the street. She is the only one on the street with a back up generator so she gets treated nice.

Wngsprd, the gate is the first defense against theft. Our tractor and tools are in the barn behind the locked gate.
About 1/3 of the garden''s beds were covered. I'll find out in a few days if it made any difference for them, probably not as there is no heat source under the covers.

I saw a tiny patch of blue sky in the east, and black clouds in the west...now the rain has returned.
