Buckeye, I understood your first message. My wife's cousin sent me a message with some acronyms. SUS was one. I figured it out. But it should have been CUS. See You Soon. I bet there is class for that at Don's community.

Yes that is covered in the computer/technology club.

Good morning! 70 to 100s nothing new just hot. Dog days of August. 45th day 100+.

I need some kind of small whole house fan or large ceiling vent fan to put in the garage ceiling without pulling air from the gas hot water heater vent.

Bocce ball class this morning. We will be learning international rules, last week we learned the Sun City rules. Then this afternoon a fitness class in the cool Community Buildings

Eric interesting about the shepherd's huts.

Buckeye hope you are up and back at home by this afternoon.

Off today, a bit worn out from the week. Still had to get up early to get the kids to school .

About to head to the Kubota dealer in Lagrange Texas to pick up my FIL's RTV 500 he just bought (used). They all seem to have an issue with the temp gage, not reading correct. I told him we could put a digital gage on it if he wanted.

Need to go by the bank to get a new debit card. My old one cracked.

I wanted to shred today, but maybe not in the 103F temps.

Eric, those wheels might get into a high speed wobble if you're not careful. An old English RV.

RNG, I believe you may have to do some studying on the codes the van is throwing. The codes are typically grouped depending on what is wrong. There's a wealth of info on them online, and this is where you might can help.

Yes, I've been down that road before with other "modern" vehicles, but had hoped I could rely on the mechanic's experience to get through these teething problems. In fact, he glowingly showed me two gen-u-wine Subaru code readers he'd just purchased from the local Subaru dealer, and demonstrated the flood of information that could be displayed by them. I have no doubt he knows what is wrong, but on my visit yesterday he was nowhere to be found and there were more vans sitting in the lot again waiting for his time. So it's back to being the squeaky wheel, or PITA, as necessary to get through these last few issues.

On a related topic, I got a hand written letter from the DMV yesterday asking me to come by and give them a check for the registration I purchased last week. I remembered writing the check, but sure enough, when I opened my checkbook, it was still there! So I went to the DMV yesterday and explained to the "triage" clerk what had happened, even showing him the letter, and he tried to hand me a stub with a number on it. I explained that I'd already waited two and a half hours once, and I didn't have time just then to do it again, and asked him if he couldn't just hand the appropriate clerk the letter and check? He pointed to a drop box and envelopes, so I shoved everything in there and put it through the slot. Sure hope somebody does the right thing with it...:confused2:

What's the longest lasting fun project you have done ?

Well, the reburb on this house took four years, but some of that was definitely not fun. I've had the motorcycle I'm working on now for about four years, and it has been fun. But up in the rafters is another one just like it, in better original condition, and I've had it in pieces since 2009. Next year will be the tenth anniversary, and that may be the impetus needed to finally start on that one...

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 6:45AM. Partly cloudy. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High 83F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Hope the winds are leaving you and yours alone, David, and a good soaking is all that comes from the hurricane.

My friend showed up early enough yesterday to go to town with me, and enjoyed dropping by the local BMW dealer to see all the new bikes, and the mini museum in back with all the dearly departed owner's race bikes in the back. He even got to see the Vanagon, and the mess of a shop where it's being worked on, but the highlight of meeting the mechanic himself was not to be. We did find time to enjoy an early dinner at the Sierra Nevada brewery restaurant, probably the best food in Chico. And a taste or three of some Scotch once we got home. He's on his way north at this moment headed for an appointment for a custom motorcycle seat in a little place called Shasta Lake north of Redding. It'll be a long day for him, with an initial fitting, a delay while they make a first cut on the seat, then he goes for a test ride. That's followed by a longer delay where they incorporate any changes and finish the seat. He should be on his way home by 4PM, and with any luck, he'll get back to his vineyard in time to go to bed.

I'll be outside soon spraying some summer weeds since the sprayer is already on the side-by-side and it seemed a shame to miss the opportunity. Then maybe finish up the saddle bag mounts on the old BMW. I got the rest of the tree and the stump hauled down to the wood yard yesterday morning. I was able to carry the 10' of trunk on the pallet forks for the first third of the trip, but the left front wheel started making expensive noises and I ended up dragging it with a chain the rest of the way. I'd already broken the hub on the other side trying to haul heavy loads, so it looks like it's time to take the left side apart and find out what's wrong on that side, too...

TGIF gang!:drink:

64°F and rain this morning, going up to 79° today with more rain expected later this evening.

Kyle, the peaches are magnificent. Wife and I shared one after dinner last night. The tree we've been getting them from is giving us white peaches. Funny, neither of us remember there being a white peach tree back there. It's been a good many years since we've gotten any fruit from those trees, though. Between Japanese beetles, frost, Spring storm damage, and extreme trimming, this is the first year in awhile that we've had any. It used to be a small orchard with about a dozen or so trees. Her grandmother never trimmed them back, and they became quite unmanageable for many years. Some became diseased and some were damaged in storms, so we eventually cut down all but three, and those were trimmed way down two years ago. They've all recovered nicely, but only two are bearing fruit this year. The third one looks healthy again, just no fruit.

We did the same thing with the monster pear tree by the lake. Trimmed it way back at the same time as the peach trees. It's growing back quite healthy, but no fruit again this year.

Hope everyone is doing well in their hurricanes and heat waves.

It was 42° this morning. Yesterday there was a lot of wind and smoke, the high was in the mid 70's. Looks like to day it's going to be in the low 80's and hazy.

I'm going back up to the neighbors next Tuesday. I'll get a few pictures of the sheep wagon then. Right now it doesn't look like the ones on Google.

I didn't get any of the things done I was planning on doing yesterday. So that's the plan for today.

Hope everyone can get a good start to the weekend.
CWB.

My wonderful wife finished canning the 80lbs of peaches we bought this week. That makes 160lbs total this year of peaches. Some jam and cobbler (frozen gallon bag ready to make cobbler), the rest canned peaches..

Our daughter that bought land this spring texted and offered to cook dinner for us if we went out to the property. She wanted to show us their progress. They are waiting for Avista (local power company) to energize now (pull transformer to transformer cable, transformer to meter cable and meter. Then they will have power and not have to run generator daily to charge trailer batteries and run AC to cool trailer.
