We had about 3" of snow and they called it a blizzard. I remember the winter of 77/78 when we had some real snow and I just remember it being called a snow storm.

Not enough to get the tractor out here, but the temps are refusing to rise. We did make it to 3° this morning.

We had about 5" of powder but the wind mostly blew it away. Just a bit of shoveling in front of the garage and mailbox will be fine. I don't want to run the 'cat until I get some winter blend fuel into it. I do have it treated but why not wait a few days. Wednesday will be 40*+ so I'll drive it then. I'll trade some of my firewood for the neighbor's 70/30 fuel. I took him cookies and he gave me some chili...yum.

I read about that year in the paper and barely remember it. It was my first year out of high school and I was pumping gas for a living, so it should have been more memorable.

My father bought a new '62 Willys pickup and plowed driveways to pay for it; then gave them up. After that he used to joke that he'd like to be snowed in for a week! Watch what you wish for, it might just come true. :D

I believe that it was 1968 that we had a major blizzard, resulting in a 10 foot drift at the mouth of the driveway. It took the town over a week to get through, as they kept getting plow trucks stuck. My father would use the snow sled to run down to the greenhouse, and borrowed my grandfather's car to get groceries. We thought it was fun to watch for him, then go out and open the garage door so that he could sled back into the garage. I don't recall where his Jeep was, possibly in the garage behind the '67 Panther.

Last night it was 3f, and my oil line froze between the tank and the house. I was going on the wood stove alone, but it could only keep the house at 60 on full tilt. Today I went to home depot and got a pipe heater and some insulating tape. Wrapped it good and plugged it in. Tonight and the next few days is the same.

I just replaced my pipe wrap from the tank to the house last month as it was breaking down, good reminder for us in this weather to check.
