Good morning, 46 going to 57 or so today hope the ground will dry out some

Don, good for you tackling another language and having wife into that really helps. Remember the Mandarin lessons> that was interesting and difficult but transfer to Taiwan did not happen.
We use our native language as a private one but sometimes get surprised when someone understands what we are talking about

My haircuts are free since wife does them. She learned to do the kids haircut since taking that many kids for haircuts was very disruptive

Ken, sounds like bad management going on in your company. Hope it gets resolved. Always told myself when in that situation nothing last forever and the next project will be better managed.

Scoort, had to tow out the tow truck one time that came to haul out a contractor from our property.

Popg, I had the same experience with Cody. Shelties are very alert to anything going on and will chase anything.

Have an appointment with the AC contractor for the mini split tomorrow. Want it to be good for heating down to low temps. May want to upsize to get more heating capacity.

Today will be a home day for bills and paperwork, laundry and cleanups. Too muddy to to do much outside

An RF guy I worked with was always fiddling with his McIntosh tube amp and tuner and came up with some design improvements. They incorporated his improvements and gave him some free HW.
Would be difficult with digital equipment to do that.

My son now has my brothers old Carver amp and Adcom preamp, driving those little Polks, plenty of headroom :)

Had a lot of fun when I was an electrical engineer, seems so long ago (because it was). The switch from discreet HW to embedded SW kinda turned me off. Though I play with Arduinos and some stuff here and there.

Be careful with upsizing. I had 3 AC contractors come and size a mini-split for my shop. One recommended a 12K unit, another a 15K unit and the last an 18k unit. I went with the 15K unit and it is too large. Heats and cools fine, but it doesn't run long enough to control the humidity in the summer. I had to buy a dehumidifier to keep the humidity under control, which negates a good deal of the savings from the mini-splits. In hindsight I should have gone with the 12K units.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 6:45AM. Periods of rain. High 54F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Yesterday's storm dropped about an inch, with another half inch coming down after midnight. The winds peaked around 9 PM, with another bout of 53 MPH. No porch roof to take off this time, and the tarps stayed put on the bead blaster. Sure made a lot of noise. In spite of the dire predictions from the weather guessers, these are more normal Pacific storms I remember from earlier years here. Just maybe a little more wind is all.

Through it all, the Starlink internet has been working just fine, streaming video and handling web browsing with no outages or buffering interruptions. Better than HughesNet ever did. I've even been able to make calls using the cellular phone, something that's only been possible within the past year. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Lake Oroville is up 45' from December 26 when the first in this series of storms rolled in. But still 183' below the top of the dam.

Still no sun in the 10-day, but Friday looks dry.

Got a little drizzle yesterday morning for the insurance adjustor's visit. She brought along a trainee, and the both of them spent maybe fifteen minutes looking at the damage and snapping pictures before getting into her big pickup truck to start working on their estimate. She said it would take a couple of hours, and she'd leave a copy with me when they left. After two hours she wasn't done, but had another call to make, so off they went with a promise to email the estimate in a day or two.

Meanwhile, I got in touch with a contractor that came recommended by a neighbor, and he'll be here this morning. Makes more sense to me to use a contractor for the repair, as it involves more than just fixing the roof.

It was still drizzling, but not hard enough to keep me from removing a few sheets that were loose on the damaged porch roof. Got those moved to a sheltered location, then stacked an old piece of railroad track and tie on top to make sure it didn't go anywhere. I would liked to have done more, but the wind was picking up and the 13' long pieces were getting hard to hang on to.

Got through last week's mail, finding 20% increases in my auto insurance premium. Typical cheap first year rate, then jack 'em up every year after.

Also watched some YouTube videos on replacing ball joints. It doesn't look like too bad a job if you have the right tools and don't mind getting dirty. My contractor neighbor says he has a press that'll work, so I'm thinking about it. He needs some help with some aluminum brackets, so he'll be over this afternoon after I get back from a grocery run, and I can ask him more questions then.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

on replacing balls joints it can sometimes be advantages to get the Aframe with ball joints mounted and save the hassle of replacing the joints.

On Winslow I think we stayed at the same 16 dollar hotel room and we were not able to sleep much because of truck traffic rumbling through there all night

Valid point for sure and good advice

Good morning to all! Low was 24°, going for a high of 42°. Winds were gusty overnight, highest gust was 35 mph. Light breezes now. Tomorrow winds pick back up again. Seems to be the norm .... the leftovers from Cali. All the moisture gets wrung out in the Sierra Nevada mountains, we get the wind.

Successful batch of dog food yesterday. In between cooking and packaging, ran down to the propane supplier and picked up an auto changeover valve and a hose for my son. Apparently his valve will no longer switch over automatically.

The last ball joints that I have done were on my 4 door Jeep. What a ball buster--- pun intended! I have all the tools needed and it was still a royal pain. I swore I will never do ball joints again! Being 4wd made it a bit more difficult. Late model Jeep wranglers are notorious for eating ball joints every 60-70K miles. The most common cause of "death wobble".

I have an appointment at noon, then afterwards don't know if I have any time to get into anything.

Everyone have a great day!

66°F and .09 inches rain.

Changed it up a bit and spent time cleaning up outside the tractor shed, concentrating on the area where my expansion will go. Got several wheel barrows of old wood burned. Today will dismantling my fuel can storage and if wx holds likely power wash the area.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Slow trying to get anything done this morning.
Went out to garage, started going thru a box of old Christmas lights, decided not to continue in garage. Sat with snagglepuss for awhile.
IMG_7468.JPG

Went to basement, got down a box of old bills to go thru. Found some of the old credit card machine receipts for $1 gas in 1990. Found receipt for my bag phone from 1994. Put box back on shelf and been watching YouTube.
New light fixture for above sink comes today. Not motivated to paint. Hard to get started with wife needing to use kitchen sink. Think I’ll just put new light up as is for now, when it comes.
