m7040, I thought those fields were watermelon patches back in '85 when I was there.

I like my music loud. The louder the better as long as there is no distortion. Probably why I can't hear for beans anymore, and my ears ring most of the time.

Mid 40s & overcast. More rain last night.

Daughter number 2 reported a tree down across the farm lane last week. I checked it out yesterday. Yup. It was completely covered in vines. Virginia creeper, honey suckle and poison ivy. The poison ivy looked pretty fresh. The lane was pretty squishy but I managed to get the tractor down to the log without making too much of a mess, I pushed the log off the lane and that will have to be good enough. I noticed a lot of downed trees but it is too wet to try to move them over to my neighbors house. I wonder if the ground will freeze any time this winter. It would be nice to get the logs out of the woods before things start to grow again.

Hope the weather isn't messing anyone up.

Chris

Lou, would it be better to have the Sheriff block the road for you?
We do this numerous times a year to different fields, the laneway we use to move them from the barns comes down to the highway and they have to turn and travel 100 feet down the road and turn again. The easiest way is one man and vehicle diagonally on the road at the gates with poly wire from the vehicle to the far fence. Then one vehicle up on the knoll to stop and or slow traffic so they don't top the hill at 45-55 mph and have people and animals exposed to idiots. So depending on whose available depends on who goes were. It seems like I get the position up on the knoll the most another brother and an older neighbor get the two diagonal spots.

Well it took a bit longer then I had anticipated to get the cows moved. I thought they were after the small bunch of finishers, turned out it was cow calf pair from one of the bigger bunches about 60 cow calf pairs moved from their feed lot field to the barns to sort out the cow with a bad foot and her calf then run the others back across the road to the field.

This was from last year one day;

34F, wet, and cloudy @ 13:30 ... heading up to around 37F for the high. Chance of some light snow which won't accumulate.

We're about a week out from what is typically the coldest week of the year (mid January) Judging from the forecast, if it holds up, I suspect the ground here will not freeze to any significant depth this year.

More progress out in the garage, bench on north wall almost cleared and cleaned off. Slow going as there is little in the way of horizontal surfaces to move things to while other horizontal surfaces are cleaned and organized.

Woman was headed out to Wally World yesterday, dropped me off up at the shop and I grabbed the pop rivet gun and a rivet to fix the ground wires on the Keurig. Forgot to grab the Craftsman drill guide while I was up there of course ...

Was going to move the [AFFILIATE=1, nofollow=true, newwindow=true, title="Kubota"]Kubota[/AFFILIATE] over to the barn, but managed to put that off. Now it's cold out and I don't want to do it ... :giggle:

Removed the last 9 gallons of water for pwc's from the stationary tubs so The Woman can use them to wash up some stuff. She picked up a cheap dish rack at DG I can use for things to dry down there.

Fishies were all fed.

Looking out at the feeders this morning, I believe I still see food in the hopper feeder.

Woman asked where all the junk that was sitting in the entry way had gone, told Her that I had moved it down to the basement.

Rest of the day will likely be split between the garage and the basement.

Hope everyone is having a good TGIF ... (y)

New Study with 54000 participants show potatoes do not increase risk of type 2 diabetes, IF you don't add fat when cooking.

"When we separated boiled potatoes from mashed potatoes, fries or crisps, boiled potatoes were no longer associated with a higher risk of diabetes. They had a null effect,” Pokharel said in a press release.

The study found that those who ate the most potatoes also consumed more butter, red meat and soft drinks, which are known to increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes."

   / Good morning!!!! #162,340
finally home, what a long day
lot of driving, fun to be with my friend.
First place told me I really should be using a smaller trailer and showed me a similar model without a walk around queen bed
that was lighter and made more sense. Length went from 19 to 16, all they did was put the bed sideways.
For two people, that doesn't work at all. For one person, it's fine. Otherwise identical, stove with oven, dry bath/shower, larger fridge.
Just one place to sit down, the table but that's where the laptop will be anyway.

second place I looked had what I thought I wanted and then the weight tag said it actually weighed 300 more pounds than published.
going to ponder this tonight.
The real issue is do I want this very small trailer or should I get a truck and a bigger one. Need to sleep on that.

at least the stock market went up nicely today

drove past the big stacks of the Limerick nuke plant today, they really are visible from a ways.

the only problem with a boiled potato Don is who wants to eat it plain? I guess the key is the seasoning, not the fats added.
So I can't wrap my potato in three strips of bacon?
