My wife refuses to put her phone on ring, so it's always on vibrate. If she misplaces it, we call it from another phone and slink around the house like a cat burglar until we hear a sofa cushion or coat pocket buzzing.

I've done that many times... one advantage of also having a land line. A few years ago though, I lost my personal cell phone.(Which I have since given up in lieu of a land line.) After taking the truck apart I finally decided to drive 25 miles to where I had gotten out to get rid of some water. As I pulled in I called it with my company cell... and watched it light up while setting there on the ground.

I ran my work phone over with the tractor. Called and nothing. Walk my tracks back and found a tiny black button in the mud. It was the antenna of the phone. Pulled it out by the antenna. It had mud packed so hard into the little speaker you couldn't hear any sound coming out of it.

My house guest looses her phone on a nearly daily basis and asks me to call it so she can find it. Mine rarely leaves my shirt pocket, except for use texting, calling and charging.

The sound of silence!! Been enjoying that ever since I quit carrying a cell phone when I retired. Don't miss it at all.
I have no cell coverage where I live.
