I have a new L2501 with the BH77 back hoe. It had .5hrs on it when delivered. I was digging stumps and when I lifted one and swung it to the side it caught the hose on the end of the out rigger arm. 2hrs and I broke my new tractor. Not covered by warranty. Now every time I swing a tree or stump it is my biggest fear. Does anyone have an idea how to make a shield to protect these hose's?
I am clearing an area about 2 acres for planting clover and wiled flowers. (food plot and pollinator area)
Most of the trees are about 12" around and there are a lot of them.
I remember when I had my business the backhoe had a step covering the hoses. I am looking for something like that?

I have an L3301 with the BH77 backhoe. I have dug quite a few stumps with it. I have never had that issue. But obviously it could be a problem. If it continues to be an issue, you may have to fabricate guards. As far as not being under warranty - I can certainly understand that. Honestly, it may be a one-off event that does not repeat.

Looking at pics of the BH77, most show the retract hose exiting out of the top of the cylinder which I assume is your config? I've got a B26 TLB with BT820 BH and that port is on the fwd side of the cylinder putting the 90 and the hose pretty much out of harm's way. Besides remembering to extend the dipper stick / boom out a bit more before you swing or a homemade guard, a couple of additional 90's would allow the hose to be routed down and in front of the cylinder. You've still got to avoid the 90's but the hose would be better protected.

If you don't have pre-welded bolt bosses for guards you can source clamps and fabricate somethin.

You can do a lot more damage with your BH, inexperience can be expensive.

All the hoses and fittings on a backhoe are in harms way. If you plan on digging un the brush and handling stumps and trees and limbs, I doubt this will be the last. Its something that just happens from time to time....this time outrigger, next time might be the dipper cylinder, next might be a bucket cylinder.

Just chalk it up to experience, and live and learn. Cause not really a good way to guard it on the BH77

Recently put some steps and straighten out some dings from the previous owner on the M59 stabilizer guards. Really made to keep dirt or rocks off the cylinder rod or maybe a light bucket strike. You could rip them off if you are not careful.

Buddy with a B26 also would like some guards too.

Thinking I could split a -26” piece of 5” square tube to make two guards. Weld a black 1/2” thread coupling nut where the cylinder rod attaches to pad. The cylinder side slide a little more complicated but doable. Few pieces of flatbar to make the slides. The hard lines on B26 stabilizers are on the backhoe side not the best design.

Could source the covers from Kubota m59 or L47 parts. Not sure how much $$$ but Messicks online could find out. Think Paul Short made some and offered for his model of Kubota. Still would have to fabricate the slide and attachment points and no guarantee they fit. $50 material to make from scratch.

Nice winter project. Maybe next year.

That's the point. Don't work so close in when working with branches or debris.

How are they held in place? That is what I was thinking.

Tinhack
I have learned that now. Also take things a little slower when lifting a stump or tree.

Bolt hole at bottom attaches to cylinder rod end. The bolt is fastened into a tapped hole that has been drilled where the outrigger pad pivots.
Top you may see the track that slides on “T” fixture welded to the cylinder barrel.

Messicks parts may show better detail.
