Ok, I'll probably stick with 60" then. I do want scarifiers also. Those things are nearly impossible to find used, so I guess I'll be buying new.

After reading this thread and all of the success you guys have with the land plane, I think that would be a tool I need to invest in.

I'm probably going to be buying a land plane this spring and wonder what size I should stick with for my Yanmar SA425. Weighs 1,700 without the loader so add another 400 - 500 for loader and the tires are loaded so some where in the Mid #2,000 range. I think 60" is probably safe but didn't know if it would handle 72"?
I maintain about mile and a half of driveway and private road. The first time I did it, it was with a 27HP tractor and a 5' box blade. It took me all day. The next time it was with a 50Hp tractor and a 7' landplane. It took me about two hours. I'll be out after the thaw to repair frost heave and potholes with it. Last year I only had to do it twice. The smoother I can make the road, the smoother it seems to stay.

Exactly, it is so quick and easy, that your drive never even gets bad. At first sign of needing repairs you go do it, because it only takes a small amount of time, not a half or full day to make everything good again.

YanDer, I purchased the 72 inch land plane
its a blue LS and I don't have the scarifies
and I am glad I didn't spend the money to
get them as I really don't need them the unit
will level my drive way with out them. The unit
is very well made I don't believe I can wear it
out in my life time even if I used it 2 times a
week. I haven't made any changes to it yet will probably keep it with the way it came from the factory. I don't remember exactly how much I paid but it was
2022 and paid $1300 or $1400. I went threw

The land plane smooths and with the box blade
you have a pile that you have to work at to level

There dosnt look like a stone bigger than a dime in your driveway. I would hope you can make that flat.

Here is the one I'm leaning toward buying. I am thinking of buying the 72" one too. Since I hope to be putting in yards for folks in about 5 years from now and will want the extra foot.

If my Yanmar can't pull it in dirt I may have to get a bigger tractor later on. ; ) Which I plan to do anyways. I want a non-loader tractor for bush hogging and rear implement work. I'll have two tractors. the other being 45+ hp.

If I were just using in on mine and my MILs drives I probably would go without scarifiers but I hope to use it to make money with in a few years and don't know what I'll be getting into. So I want one with scarifiers in case I get into a very neglected driveway, like my son's house. I will probably go at his drive with the box blade first.

I bought a 5' box blade and I'm itching to get it on there and work on his drive.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
