I’ve walked many a mile doing lots of manual labor. Why do some of you think that you’re the only folks who do? I could list lots of strenuous work during my career, but don’t talk about it because I assume that nearly everyone here has done their share. Most of us are “mature” so it would be a rare occurrence for someone to have a full career and not have had some experience with labor.

Great to see you finally recognize regulations as a problem.
Maybe by the end of the discussion, you’ll understand what taxes do to chase industry to off shore locations or more sensible states.

What leftists fail to understand is that corporations do not "pay taxes", even when they are heavily taxed. It is passed on to the consumer, so these "tax the rich" maroons are basically demanding that the prices that they pay for goods and services be increased to cover these higher taxes.

The problem isn't that the gummint doesn't collect enough money, it is that they spend too much of our money on things that they have no business spending it on. When our representatives pass spending bills without reading them, it is by definition "taxation without representation".

The point of this thread is over-regulation and is exactly what is being described for all these industries that have moved away from the NE or out of the country. And it also goes directly to the point of the cities dominating the political branches of what rules get passed just by sheer population. Banning of ICE engines is down right foolish for many, many reasons but it will have a far greater impact on those of us that do not live in the cities as those in the cities have much more ability to switch to electric everything and be OK. It is the triumph of one religion (climate alarmism) over reason.

As previously noted by many here: Let us choose for ourselves. As battery technology improves, more things will be possible with cordless tools, for example. Already we have seen significant strides here. But they still lack power and capacity of what you can get from an ICE engine. Maybe there will be some breakthrough in battery technology that will tip the equation to the battery side at some point, but I certainly don't see it in anything I know about here so far. We are starting to bump up against the limits on Lithium batteries already. How far can they go? Dunno, but maybe some bright spark will come up with a breakthrough that makes a big difference in efficiency or power delivery. But I'm not holding my breath based on what I know of the technology development in process. So stop trying to force your religion on the rest of us since it will have significant negative impacts on our lives. That is all that is being said here.

Hard for those that depend on your money to increase their lifestyle without taking more out of your pocket.

That’s happening right now, but I’m fighting back, with higher prices, whenever I can.
I used to be the guy that customers could count on for good quality at a fair price.
Because of the new way “country” people are being screwed with, I am now the guy you can count on for good quality at a much higher price.

Keep screwing with the regs and jacking up prices and I will get ya back 6 ways to Sunday. Nothing feels better than taking on a job knowing you are being overpaid because I am overpaying for everything now. Fuel, parts, service, insurance, you name it. Everything is up 25-100% on my end.

Now you will have to reimburse me for my costs whenever I can get you.

Quick example: Have a small customer who we hay (2) 8-10 acre fields, the margins around them outside mowed with bush hog 2X per year and all the trees and fences weed wacked. Takes about 1 day to hay and a 1/2 day the next day to mow the margins. Thats right in my lane for what we do, but on the smaller side.
Last years price was $1,400 for both cuttings and we keep all the hay.
This years price is $2,000 for same job.
Up what? 35%??? I should have probably doubled the price…..

They told me to pound sand, they would get someone else.
Then they priced it around.
Then they came back to me and asked me if I would reconsider coming back as they are now satisfied with my price.

Unfortunately, this is what I have to do in the “post covid/new world order” world.

No. I didn't dig ditches for money. I hauled bricks with my hands for a mason in high school and first years of college. Built some huge shoulders. I don't want to go back to that job, either.

Good. But do not disparage or disrespect those who need those jobs.
