42F and sunny @ 15:30
Did not get feeders filled yesterday prior to departure. Maybe today if I can get moving ...
Woman volunteered to accompany me to Menards ... if I placed the order at the Massillon Menards. Going to the one in Kent is probably a little further and involves driving on the interstate and there are construction zones.
She managed to pick up a new bucket and a couple of boxes of Kleenex.
In addition to the critter food, I got a 1" x 48" solid red oak stair tread, another six Plano storage boxes (smaller ones this time), and a 24 piece foam brush assortment.
The kitties got a 7 lb. bag of IAMS dry cat food which was on sale, which they seemed to like (chicken and salmon, first time they've had it)
Stopped on the way back at the cheap station down in Massillon and picked up another 5 gallons of diesel for the torpedo heater.
Saw several lightning strikes on the way back and tried to beat the rain before it got to the house, made it ... just barely.
Once we got back The Woman went inside and started warming up the leftover Mexican food from the other night while I refueled the torpedo heater, unloaded the car, and stowed the critter food in their respective containers.
Winds came up and rain started just as I started to unload.
After dinner I got the last bracket for the high shelf over the pegboard installed.
Went to put in the last screw (in the last hole on the last bracket) and ran into a screw that was under the pegboard holding the furring strip to the wall ...
Moving the bracket over 1/8" solved that problem.
After that I the piece of ply for the shelf down off the lumber rack and vacuumed it off and started applying the first coat of poly.
Once I had that on, I headed down to the basement and fired up one of the old computers and started laying out the design for the workbench. Took a bit to get back into the flow of that but it went ok. Still have a ways to go but making progress.
Came back after a while and checked on how the poly was drying and it seemed to be dry so I threw another coat on:
Still need to check it today and see whether it has dried up all the way. (I turned off the torpedo heater once I had the second coat applied)
If it seems hard, I may flip the board over today and get started on the other side.
Ran into this on the tabletop for the workbench:
Fortunately, it is on the left side (facing that side of the table) and I am right-handed ... and is almost the exact width of the back jaw on the face vice + the 1" thick stair tread (some of which will get used as a jaw face) so it can be trimmed out, allowing the back jaw + face to be flush with the edge of the table ...
Need to get moving so I can get those feeders filled ... before it get dark ...
Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday ...
