Wow! That's impressive. I sit here looking at my living room door. It's a standard door, 6' 8". To imagine not just jumping up, grabbing the top of something 7' high and pulling yourself over it, but running up and throwing your entire body up and over something like that without touching it... just amazing. I congratulate you.

I'm not sure I could clear the doorknob today! 🙃
The vice principal of my HS could stand with one foot on the floor and put the other on the top of a door casing. That I saw. What I didn't see was the time he walked up to two boys who were fighting in the hallway; grabbed one with each hand and lifted them both off the floor.

He was a BIG boy!!!

You and me both, David. My jumping days are long behind me.
I used to be able to dunk a volleyball from a standing position. Never could get that last inch to do a basketball.

Today, I'm happy to report I can still touch the bottom of the net. Barely. And I'll regret it tomorrow.

I can still vault a 4' fence, or jump up onto a loading dock. I won't try and jump down off a dock though. My knees can't take it.

Yeah, we had a wrestling coach in high school that was also the guy in charge of school discipline. His head looked like a dome with muscles out to his shoulders. If you tapped him on the shoulder he couldn't turn his head around to look at you. GRRRR!!! He could do the splits. Crazy. Jean Claude Van Dang!

I recall sitting in a history class on a homecoming Friday, and looking out the window to see him walking out of the woods carrying two full kegs of beer, one in each hand, with half the football team following him with their heads down. Busted!

My high school record was 6' 6-3/4" I broke it my senior year (1984) at 6' 8". I held that record for all of about 10 minutes. My teammate was gracious enough to allow me to enjoy the moment for a little bit while he stretched a bit more, then moved the bar up to 6' 10" and cleared it. I believe his record still stands today.

Highest I ever successfully jumped was 7' 0" as a freshman in college, which qualified me for the Nationals meet. I didn't go, though ... because, like a dummy, I dropped out that year.

I didn't always make the wisest choices back then.
Holy cow! 7 feet is AWSOME, if you attended nationals or not. I am impressed.

I could dunk a basketball, but it was not allowed in games back in the day. I sometimes used to do it during warmups but I would get dirty looks from the refs. I always seemed to get more fouls called on me the times I did that. :devilish::devilish:

Yeah, I remember when it was frowned upon. Here's an interesting bit of trivia....

the first NBA player to shatter a backboard, Chuck Connors (who would become far more famous as an actor), did not do so with a dunk. When playing for the Boston Celtics in 1946, Connors took a set shot during pregame warmups, hitting the front of the rim. Because an arena worker had failed to place a protective piece between the rim and backboard, the backboard shattered.[2]

Yep. The Rifleman!
