Corned beef and Cabbage then H& F

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
Corned beef and cabbage planned here, too. Already had Irish soda bread. I'm sure my wife will make a green beer, too...she threatened to put green dye in the scrambled eggs this morning, but my big hug convinced her otherwise. We need to learn H&F...sounds like fun.

Yes. But I mean how did they bring in long heavy timbers? I've seen mules used, but these were so long, I'm not sure they could have made the tight turns on the trail. It was a fairly new construction, 2 miles from any fire road. Maybe helicopter?
The facetious answer is they had no problems with turns because they hauled them in upright 🤣😂.

the other possibility is that a smaller temporary cut (like a firebreak) was used to haul in from a different access point? Satellite/aerial imagery might help determine if that is the case.

I would also look carefully if there are any plaques/badges/tags/imprints etc that may be a clue as to who actually built it and/or is responsible for it.

otherwise helicopter is a viable theory, too.

38F and cloudy @ 16:00, heading down to a low of 27F overnight. Cold front moving through.

We'll have a couple of chilly days then temps head back up into the 50's and 60's for highs with precip expected for four days starting next Wednesday. Not a bad thing considering how short we are on snowfall for the season.

Soil temp currently 46F.

Went back out to the garage after dinner to work, torpedo heater fired off then quit. Was out of fuel so I ran down to the corner and picked up another 10 gallons.

Refueled when I got back and then cleared off the table saw and woodworking workbench top and started cutting the 3/4 ply down into panels. Decided to use the hand-held circular saw, cutting guide, and foam board since that had been working so good.

Getting those and the parts for the drawers cut up should keep me busy for a couple of days.

Waiting on (extra) long jigsaw blades from Amazon to dado out the 4 x 4's, should be here Sunday.

Woman just headed out to do a little quick grocery shopping.

A little celebration later ...

Hope everyone is having a great St. Paddy's Day ... (y)

We wish GM still made those. Handiest vehicle we ever had. Still see some in good shape on the roads from time to time.
My friends parents had a 1995. We would load it up to bursting with camping gear, then hitch up their boat (and overload that too) and drive it almost 200 miles each way for a major biannual camping trip. It would do 80 on the interstate without a problem and rode like it was on rails.

it finally died late last yearwith over 350,000 miles on it, original motor and trans.

I think I should/will start my own dedicated thread on this build out, but... The south wall studs are done. I'm out of the wind, so it's not too awful cold but I'm done for the day. Cheers, everyone!

When we would do our semiannual requalifications at Ft. Dix, it was always entertaining to see these do touch-and-goes at McGuire. Inevitably, some newbie would express surprise at how many planes were flying in and out and ask “Did we go to war?” When it was really only 2-4 planes. . .

Have to love the parking area on the Dix end of the active.

Good evening.

Yesterday, besides working in the shop and cleaning up, I helped my grandson fly the kite that Drew gave him-

Today was back and forth to Florida, nice day down there, got home in time to check in here, bring up the trash cans and get ready to play some music with the boys.

The Astrovan was a great vehicle, I had two of them back in their day. I would have one now if there was something similar available.

How are you going to secure the bottoms during strong winds or hurricane?

Grrrrr, lost my original answer…

Original plan is to mount the 6 doors individually on alternating rails, allowing me to open just 1 or 2 as needed. Planning spacers on the vertical posts at top and near bottom for the inner doors, spacers near bottom at bottom between the doors, the hook and eyes at the horizontal level. I also have the alternatives to mount as 3 sets of 2 or 2 sets of three. If I did this I would join doors with metal plates and likely remove the mid mount rollers. These doors roll very easily and even as a 3 door unit would be close to the roller weight spec.

My prevailing winds would tend to push the doors inward. Once I get the polycarbonate panels at the top I doubt there would be much wind coming thru the inside with a direction change.

Some decisions still to be based on what gets parked where. Current thinking is possibly Sophie’s BX at end, then the Scag, then the Mule, with the area nearest old shed left open as likely the Craftsman rider will likely be parked that area.

All subject to revision based on input and experience, oh and approval from Boss.
