base 10 is base 10, it doesn’t matter if the basic unit is based on the Angstrom unit or the kings arm! I have always worked in decimal inches in the tool and die industry, when we switched to metric it was still base 10 and decimal millimeters. I have never seen a die drawing called out in F’in centimeters! There’s no advantage to the metric system that I can see.

Metric is used by all nations of the world but 2. We are not an island, no matter how much some people think we are. You have a choice, stay in the 18th century, or join the 21st. You already stated it would be easy to do.

My old made in Switzerland caliper is in decimal inches, and something else on the reverse. It's just Sooo hard to read the marks for an older guy!
I agree that life would be simpler if we really went metric like everyone else in the world.
Funny story... One of two times as a child I recognized the absurdity of something in the adult world occurred in elementary school. Math teacher said we had to learn the metric system, because by high school we will have totally adopted it as a nation.

You’re right I don’t know anything about precision and ease. Except that I am an engineer, I learned the metric system early on. I stared and owned a couple of Tool making and CNC Companies that made me a lot of money. I just don’t worship the metric system as a holy Grail of mistake proofing. I’ve seen plenty of mistakes with metric designs because somebody put the decimal place in the wrong point.

I'm with Grumpy. Canadians were bulldozed into metric from Normal. Lieberals. I use both, prefer Imperial which is different from US measure of liquid volume
