Limestone road base issue

I have a covered RV shed with both ends open to drive through. The floor is limestone road base. Can this be a cause of rust and corrosion? All the framing is rusted and everything parked in there develops rust in places. Anyone else have this problem? I cant find any good info on it and want to know before I get it all out of there. Shed is about 5 years old.

Is the site well drained? Do you have a lot of humidity?

Limestone does not cause rust. It's actually less acidic than dirt.

Lime stone dust when mixed with water becomes quite alkaline which is corrosive.

I would want to have a vapor barrier, too. This would help keep your limestone & dust from becoming damp, then sending corrosive vapors up through your equipment.

Might want to try a ridge vent to help vapors and if it were mine, I would run a couple low speed fans. Sounds like you are containing & confining the damp air, too.

Pretty humid environment and it is damp at times.

I would remove it and use crushed stone..

When you check your equipment, wipe your hand on the steel frame, axles, etc.
If your palm feels damp or water droplets are present, there’s your proof.

In many locations crushed stone is limestone
