I just figured they had to keep doing that to keep the POS running.

But most likely its a "hey look at me....Im cool....I have motorcycle...
Back in the carb days that was true. Not now, it'll idle unattended until it runs out of gas.

Yep, look at me.

A lot of people here own atv’s and utv’s. For some it is their mode of transportation.
No real problem with them being operated at high speeds. But you will see quite a few being operated by underage and most with no helmets and riding tandem on four wheelers. Have even seen four wheelers with a passenger holding a baby.
We will ride ours the 2 tenths of a mile to our other property but thats as far as we go on our secondary state road.

Ive learned not to take just one side of the story.

Where I live is rural farm country but within 30-40 minutes of the biggest city in the state. So we have quite a few people moving out here because they think they want to enjoy the country.

Lots of facebook groups full of those people complaining about the smell (when they spread manure), and complaining about getting stuck behind a tractor making them late to work, or gunshots, or neighbors riding ATV's disturbing their "quiet". As well as alot of complaints of people "flying" up and down the road on UTV's. And in several of these cases I know the people being accused of "flying" up and down the road. And they own UTV's that go about 50-55mph tops.

Just cruising down the road with a purpose (not poking at 25mph). To either get to their fishing hole, deer blind, mushroom honey hole, riding fences, etc. But if you believed the accuser.....they are out flying up and down the road and tearing hell outta everything
Good point and I agree at 100% ...I have been young and I have bin ripping around on roads like if it was a racetrack with my friends or by myself, but us we would keep our side of the road, rarely go at the same place and be conscientious of populated area but I know it wasn't the case for everyone some people goes to the same area over and over looking like they are going in circle and piss off everybody (mostly around camping ground) and I get both side, one is a kid and the other see and deal with the cloud of dust flying everywhere, the constant noise and revving sound and if you add a few near miss to that... a few of my friend go chase by property owner to issue verbal warning and getting threat to call the cops on them ... after that the word goes around and it get quieter for a few months.

Well I ride ATVs and sxs for work and play so at the risk of upsetting some folks I'm going to offer my opinion and experience.
#1 I personally don't ride like a raped ape.
#2 if folks continue to buy razors and sport type sxs you will continue to see them flying down two tracks and trails. In most cases they don't follow or are built to dot safety regs for motor vehicles like a car or truck.
#3 I pleasure ride on abondoned two tracks mostly, always at a reasonable speed with children on board. Currently ride a 50" wide Honda pioneer 500 and a 60" wide Yamaha wolverine X4 with a middle bump seat and a pair of Kodiak 700s I'm also in the process of buying back my old 350 grizzly from my folks for my almost 12 yr old stepson to learn on. Rarely ride when the trails are soft or very wet as to not rut them up. I tread lightly.
#4 I ride on the shoulder of county roads which is legal in my area at a reasonable speed 25mph for a few miles to get to trails I ride, vs having to tow the stuff less than 5 miles to trail head.
#5 here is where I may cause some folks to get the torches and pitch forks out I've ridden on cfr land usually owned by a multinational conglomerate that technically I'm helping to pay for there tax breaks by paying slightly higher property taxes on my own property.
#6 I follow posted no trespassing and don't access gated roads, I've never harvested timber off cfr land and don't randomly drive through the woods off the two tracks. Also I stay away from logging operations.
There is a lot of amazing things to see in the woods that can only accessed with ATVs or a sxs in reasonable time allotted. I've established a nice loop of 4-5 things to see in a day that I will gladly take freinds or family on to observe where I ride.
As for riding snowmobiles back country on two tracks, these days in my experience it's safer to ride the untraveled path, I've been ran off established, groomed, marked trails to many times by 150+ hp 500 lb machines driven by weekend warriors who's only goal seems to be getting from point A to B in break neck speed. I've ridden snowmobiles and ATVs my entire life and will continue to do so at my own leisurely pace it's how we respect and enjoy nature. Rants over.

I'd bet you would not try to follow an ATV (3' tracks) into thick woods in your 60" Yamaha. Few of the UTV go much faster than the locals in trucks used to riding gravel all day. Sometimes the real problem are the little cars riding around at < 10 mph trying to avoid potholes and mud. At 60 you come up on them fast.
I'm out in the woods every day on my 2 track trails, so I agree with you. I also go down the gravel when needed as do all the locals, as well tractors and stock trailers. All part of rural life, as is driving down the center of the real **** roads.
It just not cool to trash the trails when your ride won't fit or rip up county roads doing donuts, OR argue when someone is kicking you of THEIR land you just trashed.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Harley with stock exhaust. Most around here have no mufflers, just straight pipes. And what's with blipping the throttle when sitting at a stop sign/light?
The Hardley philosophy is, the louder they are, the faster they go. Just the opposite is true, but you cannot convince a Hardley rider of that. Why a lot of communiteis around here have enacted noise ordinances and bought DB meters.. Loud pipes save lives is BS. Loud pipes here get you a ticket and a healthy fine.

Only if you find a cop, pretty hard to do around here. HP comes around every 6 months or so and there is no sheriff patrols out in this part of the county. Now the local yokels in the little towns may need to write a ticket.
Lots of open piped truck and cars out here.

This is an age old problem and a legitimate grip in my opinion. We have a pipeline service road along 2k feet of our back fence less than 100 feet from the house. It's not ideal but the water district rarely uses the road for inspection and maintenance. The problem lies in the city off roaders who think this road is their personal racetrack to be used any time of day or night. Our complaints have caused the water district to install gates every mile or so locally (it's a 56 mile road).
The lack of respect shown by this class of riders is pretty dam apparent. That's the complaint. I'm not the only resident backed up to this pipeline road. These riders are rude and abusive. There are both people and livestock exposed to this activity.

Power lines have that same issue.....

Im usually riding over 10 miles from the nearest permanent residence, I can count on one hand how many times I've ran into other riders. More frequently I have seen out of area city folks drive a freaking Prius down the middle, bottoming out on semi established trails to sight see. You think they would let me pass, nope. I think ATVs and snowmobiles start to get a bad rap cause owners start doing mods that make them louder like aftermarket exhaust which are in most areas illegal over a certain decibel, I also think some owners believe because they have 4wd with a winch and dif lok they can go anywhere, or they get so frustrated with someone driving a Prius type car on trails so they deservedly get a middle finger and dust storm . But hey they have a coexist bumper sticker and are wearing Birkenstocks, are social media gurus and have a dash cam. So ATV riders are the bad ones. I'll always help a stranded broken down ATV or snowmobiler second thoughts on a arrogant, ignorant, imho, non Leatherman wearing treehugger in a Prius. I remember a few years back my friends and I helped a guy get out of a two track with his 4x4 jeep grand Cherokee in the winter. Was he grateful I guess he offered us slightly used water bottles when we get him in firmer ground lol. Then had the arrogance to ask what we doing riding out here vs groomed marked snowmobile trails. A simple thank you would have been nice not a accusation or backwash filled water bottles. I left him with advice to carry on your way and call a recovery company next time to get you out.
